[ Like a broken record the wet slap of feet trampling over soaked grass provides a steady stream of background noise for their discussion. And it's that very same splish-splash sound, echoing as they scamper to safety, that makes this scene too comical for Dazai not to suffer a few chuckles along the way.

He shouldn't be laughing, but the boost of adrenaline felt while running hand-in-hand with his petite companion by his side makes it impossible to resist the temporary thrill.

Thankfully he retains just the right amount of focus to follow her instructions and catch sight of the massive skull up ahead. ]

Any port in a storm suits me just fine!

[ He thinks it's ironic how the remains of a beast which surely was once responsible for causing terror will now provide comfort and safety after it's death. Then again, as someone who had once done terrible things before changing his ways, maybe it also hits close to home. For both Dazai and the dragon it seems Karma has balanced out a lingering evil with a good and wholesome ending.

Although it borders on obscene to crawl into something's skull, acting as trespassers intruding on the sacredness that comes with death, Dazai isn't about to snub this opportunity for getting out of the rain. He's not even deterred by the grime of ancient decay, where a body was replaced with dust and dirt and little shrubs over time. He's more than capable of shrugging off the morbidity for the sake of immediate comfort.

But is Yukina as comfortable with the surroundings?

If he can't act as a buffer for the intangible moral issues at hand, then at the very least Dazai can shield her from the physical ones. Any crumbling earth and flecks of dust threatening to stain her clean clothing can be easily deflected with his coat. So once they're close enough, huddling under the massive horns that block rainfall like looming branches, he reaches to loosely belt the coat around her. Now she can move about or sit down amid the earth and bone without it soiling her untarnished garments. ]

There you go! This way you'll stay dry and clean.

[ And just as always he puts chivalry first, gesturing for her to go ahead of him. But only after he takes a quick glance inside to ensure it looks safe as well as unoccupied by anything larger than a anxious spider or fluttering gnat. ]

Ladies first~.
