Well... They weren't, at first.

For all that the natives have caused trouble, he can't bring himself to blame them for it. They're just scared and set in their ways, both things that are hard to work against. ]

When I first arrived, they were quite a bit more helpful. But the two cities of Wyver and Olympia have suffered generations of a cycle of war, and we're on the cusp of one such cycle. They're paranoid, and unable to look past that history. Every stranger is someone who might be an enemy agent.
