"Hey." Friendly-like. Jim sidles up, nudges him in the arm with his elbow, looks out at the view. "It's a problem. Problems have solutions."

Don't sound so totally morose. It's awful, but they'll be able to build from it, even if it does get worse. Which it certainly will. Jim's no blind optimist - not by far - but he's a determined, bullheaded worker.

"I wanted to check up on you, mostly. And ask how the investigative journalism's going."

"Not very well, to be honest," he admits with a hand through his hair before settling himself and fixing his glasses on his face.

"I've been so busy dealing with things that I haven't had much time to organize matters." And more importantly, he hasn't felt comfortable throwing people into the lion's den. It was one matter to cut your teeth on basic investigative reporting, and another to toss people into a war zone of city. Ask people to endanger themselves further?

"Well, consider this my sincere encouragement." He'd seen that network post in his backlog trawling, wondered if it was Clark; there seemed to be plenty of volunteers, and seeing the state of things in both cities, it's something he thinks would be wildly beneficial. "Lack of communication and lack of transparency is choking this whole civilization. Half the natives seem to think so, too, at least in Wyver. They weren't getting yanked to the catacombs because they were playing along nicely."

"I couldn't agree with you more," and he sounds just a little tired, really. He wishes he had more experience with journalism, that he knew better than he does. So much of his education had been listening to Lois, following her advice. He'd say she could do three times the job he was but that still wouldn't be accurate.

"I need to get back in contact with the man in Olympia, get things ironed out so we can start. I just hope we don't have to throw people into the deep end."
