((i'm on mobile a lot, so i always default to prose. feel free to respond however you are comfortable, though!))
[KUMBA-YAAAAAAHHHHHH] (by campfire's glow) Did someone say fire? Looks like whoever was in charge of this one has been having some technical difficulties. Tsk, tsk, put away that flint, get rid of that bow-drill, Axel is here for all your arson needs.
"Looks like you're having a hard time there, friend," he says with a sly grin, sidling up to the poor unfortunate soul struggling to get the coals to re-light the kindling. He drops to a crouch beside them and snaps his fingers, a little tongue of flame dancing at the tips. "Need a light?"
It never gets old, okay?
[SHUT UP, MULDER] (the truth is out there | new CR only, please!) Axel has always been rather preoccupied with memory, ever since he was a child. Since he was very young, he has always strived to be memorable, because he figured that so long as everyone who met him remembered him, that was like being immortal, right? As he grew up and found himself working for the Organization, he discovered that he had a knack for remembering things, himself; eidetic memory is a handy skill, no doubt, but that makes it all the more unsettling when the mind plays tricks. He is familiar with deja vu, of course--as a Nobody, his whole past is sort of one big tangle of memory versus residual emotion versus Wait Did That Really Happen or Did I Just Hallucinate It While My Heart Was Being Torn From My Body?
This, though... here, today... he's sure he's walked this trail before, seen these trees before. How can that be, though? He hasn't been here all that long, and he's fairly sure he hasn't been to these woods in the time he's been here. He had spent most of his time in Olympia, in his starter housing, trying to ignore all the fancy sots, so he's fairly sure he never spent much time out here. So why does it feel like he's seen that rock, heard that birdcall, and felt this presence of someone nearby before?
Turning, he squints as a figure appears on the trail, and he tilts his head, frowning. They look familiar, but... well, everything does, right now.
"Have we met, or am I losing my mind?" he asks, scratching his head.
[YOU GOTTA LEAVE YOUR BEHIND IN YOUR PAST] (forgetting is so long) The awful thing about forgetting is that you never really know what you've forgotten, because you've forgotten. Axel is never sure if his steel-trap memory is a blessing or a curse, really, but as if things weren't strange enough already, the sudden shift of the air and the cloying presence of Darkness all around him only sets his teeth on edge. The memory of The Storm that he had been shown when he had first arrived, it had the same thick, overwhelming feel as the very Darkness he and his comrades had been born of, and to know that the same Darkness that had swallowed his own world had swallowed this many others... Well, if he could feel sad about it, he probably would. In the meantime, though, he closes his eyes for a moment to try and clear the heavy presence from his mind.
When he opens, them, however, the scene before him isn't at all where he'd been standing a moment ago. He turns to see if he's alone, and spots someone else nearby, but... that can't be right. He recognizes this place, and this person definitely shouldn't be here. He shouldn't be here, either.
"What in all the worlds...?"
((I'll do a different memory for each person, just so we don't get The Same Old Shit Over Again going on. Please let me know if you'd prefer a young!Axel (Lea) memory which will be largely headcanon, a memory from Chain of Memories, which may involve deception and murder, or a memory from 358/2 Days, which will probably involve adorable children and ice cream!)
[HIT ME] (wildcard) come at me, bros! feel free to shoot me a message at cassowary if you wanna discuss something first, but i am down to roll with whatever.
