Axel was a generally helpful sort of fellow; he found that people were a lot more likely to be chatty and less guarded around someone openly friendly and hospitable. And while he wasn't under orders to get information out of anybody here, old habits did still die hard.

The older man seemed hesitant at first, but then agreed, and Axel lowered his hand to the base of the smoldering coals in the quelled bonfire. It didn't take much to get them burning low again, and after a moment's tweaking at the flames with one hand, it was burning brightly like the others once more.

"Easy peasy," he said with a grin, and then wagged a finger. "But flint's never a bad idea, really," he acknowledged. "Apparently there's ways of nullifying magic here, so... doesn't hurt to know how to do it the hands-on way."

Shifting where he sat, he offered the man a hand.

"Name's Axel," he said. "You new? Lots'a newbies here all of a sudden."
