[Dorian keeps his gaze on Bull, who's talking to the past Dorian again.

"You see a man who's burned out, who left his people and entire life behind... and for what?"

"You're not suggesting we're similar."

"How's that mirror treating you? Pretty picture, isn't it?"


Then he sighs, turning his gaze back to Byerly. There's a hint of understanding in his expression, like he's no longer talking about one man.]


His way of life was... so ingrained into his sense of self, that he would give everything to maintain it. He feared that without it, he would succumb to madness with no way back. If he had not been ejected from that life, had people to fall back on, well... it would be inevitable.
