She doesn't say anything to that, just ruminates on it as she holds tight to her friend. If she had known how they mistreated him, she would not have been able to tolerate it. She really would have acted up, and now she wonders whether they would even listen to her pleas or not. Had they ever cared about her wishes, or was it always a pretense of fealty? The schemes of the Orbital Knights had been twisting beneath her awareness for a long time. She had merely been too childish to heed their selfish, ulterior motives because she didn't have many of her own.

Faintly, she feels his pulse. It's quick. After reliving those memories, she can hardly blame him for having such a hasty heartbeat. More pity pours from her heart for his, and she clings even harder, thinking of how precious he is and how guilty she feels that she had been so carelessly oblivious.
