She swallows, growing more sober as she formulates her next words, eye contact shunted in favor of the hands she folds in her lap. "With regards to that, I... cannot be sure," she admits. "We were successful in our mission to shut down the enemy's Aldnoah Drive, effectively shutting off the majority of their power source. I was the only one capable of doing so, since the Aldnoah activation factor is inherited through the royal family alone. It should have been a decisive victory in favor of the United Forces of Earth. However, I never got the chance to see whether we ultimately failed or not, because... the last thing I remember is being shot at."

It had been sudden, painful, and disorienting. Her emotions had twisted a hundred eighty degrees from rejoicing with her injured friend and comrade to a sharp, plunging pain in her back. Dimly she wonders if the gunshot wounds might still be there; it wasn't like she ever checked. A part of her pledges to do so later, if only to make sense of whether what she experienced had been real or not.
