[ Jack isn't ready for Reinhardt's implication that all of what they've had to go through isn't so bad because it brought them together again. It's a hell of a statement, and the worst part is that he knows that Reinhardt means it. He wouldn't say something like that if it wasn't something he truly believed. Jack opens his mouth and closes it again, but he really doesn't have the first clue of what to say to that.

This is why he'd been so reluctant to let anyone in, back home. It's why he'd purposefully avoided everyone he'd once called friend, save for Ana. Here it doesn't matter so much -- whether or not there are targets painted on them, they still have that tendency to land themselves in grave danger.

He also isn't fully prepared for the openness that Reinhardt gives him. Instead of brushing it off and insisting that he's fine, Reinhardt allows Jack to see a glimpse of some of those harder moments. Jack frowns and nods. He can't say that he understands, he's never died, but he'd gotten pretty damn close. And he still has dreams, all these years later, about what happened in Zurich.

When asked, Jack swallows around the thickness in his throat. ]
It can be. Sleeping hasn't been easy in a long time. But keeping busy makes it easier. [ That's all he knows how to do, just keep pushing forward with one foot in front of the other. ]

If your leg's still bothering you now, you should have someone look at it. Doesn't have to be Ana, if you don't want it to be, but there are a lot of healers around.
