( introlog #5 ) strangerer things
You have spent the last few days on Thesa Station, taking in the knowledge that your world is no more. Perhaps you've made some friends (or maybe an enemy or two). Either way, you aren't expected to spend all of your time on the Station. El Nysa needs you, after all, and you promised you'd help the planet thrive. Are you ready?
Submit an AC-eligible thread with a new character as a participant for 2 OLYMPIA REP POINTS OR 2 WYVER REP POINTS, respectively, HERE or HERE. THESA STATION
All refugees on the station are called to the hangar where a large-scale teleporter has been set up; everyone will be sent to the planet together. Simply step onto the space between the arrays and wait. Before they depart, all new refugees will be given a starter kit!
You may have heard about earlier technical difficulties, but don't worry. I promise everything is in perfect working order this time. I'd say I tested it myself, but since that's not exactly possible, you'll just have to trust me! (Please.) The older refugees will also be there to guide you to ensure no one is left confused... or behind. Make sure you wait for them — I've been detecting something odd so I'll be having them meet you at the landing site. Good luck, refugees! Not that you'll be needing it or anything... The arrays begin to hum and glow, quickly building into a brilliant wash of light. It creates a column that travels all the way from Thesa Station to the surface of El Nysa. With the night sky as a canvas, the beam can be seen all the way from Olympia and Wyver — a view that has the natives whispering of blessings. As a sudden but beautiful aurora splays across the sky, the refugees down on the planet receive a message asking them to travel to the landing site — and warning them to prepare for what may come of the strange readings Zasere's gotten from the teleport itself. ON A BEAM OF LIGHT ![]()
Traveling through the light leaves the impression of blinding starlight, a strange sense of weightlessness, and a disorienting moment of total sensory deprivation. The radiance of your teleport hangs bright in the sky above you, a shimmering aurora that reflects off the calm waters below, visible for miles all around.
You've landed on a peninsula to the east of the South Outpost. There's little here — scattered trees on spring-barren plains, with a few overgrown, dilapidated structures poking out of the brush. All is quiet save for the keening of animals and the gentle lapping of waves against the shore. This lonely desolation is hardly the bustling cities and vibrant cultures you were promised back on the station... BY CAMPFIRE'S GLOW. But waiting for you is a group of your predecessors, and with them, a veritable tent city, with portable stoves, coolers of food and drink, comfortable bedrolls, and cheerful rings of bonfires — all that you need to make merry of the night, courtesy of Overseer Voss, who has, thanks to his interest in blessed meteorological phenomena and refugees, decided to make a holy expedition of the affair. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS ![]()
Despite going off without hitch, the new refugees' arrival isn't entirely without incident. It seems that the "blessed" beam of light that brought the refugees down to El Nysa brought something else along with it — a sliver of the Storm. At least the beam was short enough that only a small fraction managed to squeeze through.
But it's enough to wreak a little havoc around the landing site and along the road back toward Olympia and Wyver — and even, for a few days, in the cities themselves. THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE. The Storm is an undeniably destructive force, and that's proven with this small sliver's effect as it ripples across the continent. While there's no visible sign of its presence, strange phenomena soon begin to appear, corresponding with Zasere's odd readings. DECISIONS, DECISIONS... ![]()
The time is coming to make a choice — perhaps not a permanent choice, but unless you want to spend the rest of your nights out under the stars, you'll need to pick which city you will initially spend your time in. On the horizon, you will see that people have arrived to help you make that decision...
A FORK IN THE ROAD. Refugees and the hyper-religious wishing to hear Voss speak are not the only ones out and about under the light of the aurora. Citizens of both Olympia and Wyver have flocked to a point on the road midway between the cities and where the refugees have appeared, and they all have the same goal in mind: convincing the newcomers who have just descended in the blessed light of Thesa to come to their city and not the other. You've chosen your path, refugee, but that doesn't necessarily make it a permanent one. Watch out for the strange effects of the Storm, which linger still in the two cities and everywhere in between for the next few days before dissipating just as mysteriously as they came, but otherwise enjoy the welcome and make yourself at home — after all, this is home now. FINAL OOC NOTES
An AC-eligible thread with a new character as a participant for 2 REP POINTS FOR EITHER OLYMPIA OR WYVER may be submitted from this log. SUBMIT THE THREAD FOR OLYMPIA OR WYVER HERE AND HERE RESPECTIVELY BY APRIL 29th 11:59 PM EST.
We will no longer be providing overflow posts. In an event where the post hits CAPTCHA, players are advised to move threads to an overflow post on their character journals or create their own catch-all post. These threads remain eligible for AC, AC Rewards, and REP. 1 SILVER = 1 US DOLLAR. |
Lie Ren | RWBY | OTA
[At least he has food and a place to sleep. For one night. Camping out isn't so bad, as he's been doing that for weeks on end. But that had been on travels with Team RNJR.
Now Ren finds himself very much alone. His team and everyone he knows are safe. He assumes. In stasis pods, he hopes. He misses their presence very much. Especially one friend in particular, who has been a constant at his side for years on end.
He's calm. He's quiet. That's how he is. But it doesn't mean he's happy about this situation. He might just be sitting near the fire, knees drawn up to his chin, staring intensely at the flames. Trying to figure out what to do with his life.
Do you feel like bothering this young man?]
A Fork in the Road.
[So now it comes to this. If Ren's going to find a place to live, he needs to pick a city. Both sound equally good and he knows that he needs to take in as much information as he can so he can inform the rest of his team. When they eventually arrive.
He needs to make a decision and he has zero background knowledge which choice is the right one. Or if there's no wrong choice? He's going to need more information.
So you may find a slim young man with long black hair (and one pink streak) walking toward you.]
Can I ask you something about these cities?
Wildcard!
[Want to get Ren in even more trouble? Please get him stuck in your memories for fun or drag him to your town, if you'd like. Or let me know if you'd like to try something completely different! PM this journal or harass me at
A Fork in the Road.

[One thing at a time. If he can find out one fact at a time, he can work from there. He's not at the point that he needs to use his own powers to calm himself down, but his stomach is twisting in knots.
One thing at a time.]
Which city are you from?

[She thinks further over his questions, trying not to linger on the thought of friends waking up. He's a whole lot more optimistic about that than she is.]
I don't think monsters have attacked either, at least not yet.
no subject
Okay. So it almost sounds like Olympia might be a good choice.

fork
[She is as new as he, after all; they've not spoken but she recognizes him from her wanderings about bonfires.]
Looking for someone with a bit more experience, perhaps?
[Krile turns to look up at him, and "why in the world did you choose me" is rather written into the stare. But, go on, curious stranger.]
no subject
[It was the same for the people...the friends he'd made and the teams he'd belonged to. If he's going to pave the way for everyone he knows still stuck in stasis, he's going to need to go WAY out of his comfort zone to make things happen. Which also includes having random conversations with people.]
no subject
[To sate her curiosity at least! What does someone from...another world. Another world, not that she wasn't aware, but - what opinion could he seek effectively from another in his same position?]
Unless it's about where I think I'm going. [Krile shakes her head.] I'm no lover of material persuasion or its prevalence on both sides.
no subject
[That seems to be a difficult one at the moment. One he might not be able to make unless he strikes up random conversations with people, something he doesn't normally do.]
no subject
[She believes they live in Wyver, or most of them do. Not that she is thrilled with that knowledge, as Wyver seems the more barbaric of the two choices, as well as rather...lacking in places to poke about for information, comparatively.
Is there ever an end to the ebbing tide of "nothing will be the same again"?]
What I do suggest is ignoring the bribery and flattery, and choose what will best serve your needs.
no subject
[Whatever information he can glean will ultimately be helpful.]
no subject
I haven't yet. My friends live in Wyver, but I'm not terribly compelled by the idea of life in a savage jungle.
[But Olympia would mean living alone, at least for a while, and if tensions break, possibly fighting the others or not being able to do a thing about the danger they face. Krile would rather have familiar people by her side in the event of a struggle.]

a.
You're gonna wanna sit down. I've lived in both of 'em, and I got a lot of opinions.
no subject
[He does take a seat and he sits with his back perfectly straight but relaxed at the same time.]
I'd be grateful for any information you have.
no subject
Okay, first of all Olympia is full of pretentious shits who let guys who do experiments on people hold real important places in the government, so there's that.
[That's possibly a very biased account of Evras. All Evras has ever admitted to was animal experimentation, but does Rocket care? No he doesn't.]
no subject
[Because...that would be a problem. What if someone wanted to figure out how his Aura worked and use it against him? Or other people?]
no subject
[He's getting ahead of himself, but let's be real, Rocket has a very specific bias here and that bias is "please stop doing creepy experiments around him."]
no subject
[This isn't exactly filling him with confidence about where to live.]
So basically, just pick a place and realize there are problems with both.

campfire!
it just so happens to be that he picked the campfire that Ren's sitting at. oops. he doesn't really realize he's just jumped into this guy's personal bubble. what makes matters worse is that he fails to ever realize it, so have Noctis standing there beside him, arms folded and back completely straight. he drowns in his thoughts and never once decides to look to his side to see the poor guy he invaded.
you wanted him to be bothered, so!!! ]
He is duly bothered, good job, Noct
It is a familiar face although he never caught the name of the man.]
Hello. Did you get enough sleep at the lecture?
no subject
If we're being literal, I got enough sleep in the pod. But hey. Funny I keep running into you.
no subject
[All right, he's going to need to say more and keep going. Excessive conversation isn't something Ren is used to, but he needs to get every scrap of information together that he can to be a scout for his team.]
Although with everything I've tried to absorb recently, I feel like sleeping and hoping to wake up somewhere familiar.
