[Phoenix wouldn't deny that, upon hearing Venom start off, he had felt a bit argumentative,. It was in his blood to immediately retort to anything he felt disagreement to. And yet he held himself back, and he listened, his body tensing as Venom told him about his past. His own emotions building with sympathy from the experience.

So he had lost the last person he loved... Did he feel like history was repeating itself?

He took a moment of silence after Venom finished. Once again doing his best to accumulate all his own thoughts before speaking.

I couldn't imagine what such pain must be like. I don't think I've ever personally lost someone like that before. Most certainly not after something as emotional as that. The closest experience I think I have was when each of our worlds was destroyed.

[Part of him wanted to reach out, to console Venom for the things he was feeling. But he also didn't want to make this more complicated. He wanted to see where Venom was going with it all.]

It's quite amazing how resilient the heart can be, isn't it? You put in so much of yourself, to the point that it's almost nonsensical. And then when things crash and burn, and you think there is no longer any point or hope to love anything, there you go falling head first all over again. Making all the same decisions despite the previous pain.

Before you know it you're looking for a way to get that feeling again.

People really are quite strong. Far stronger than we all give ourselves credit for, I think.
