Ianto glances up at the sound of John's voice calling out his name from across the room, though it takes him a moment to locate him. Especially because he isn't anticipating the other man having company at his table.

He takes note of the plate of cheesy fries in front of them as he approaches. Cheesy fries John, really? He supposes they must not be for special occasions after all. He hopes that he's offered her real food to eat on top of this.

Sliding into the offered seat, he sets his mug down in front of himself and reaches for one of the fries, shooting a sideways look at the other man at his words. Their first adventure on the surface? What part had he been detailing first, Ianto wonders darkly, the moment where they'd run into John's memory of his dying friend or the part where he'd had to shoot his cyber-possessed girlfriend in order to rescue them from the loop.

"Well. I do my best to try," he notes aloud. Pointedly, before turning to TJ with the flick of a smile. "Sorry, TJ was it? You were in the Air Force too then?" he asks curious as to whether John had known her from before. He'd never mentioned her name but then that meant next to nothing, since getting information out of John was like pulling teeth even at the best of times.
