Bucky smiles a little through the distress, not like the forced smiles he gives to try to make people worry less. Her energy is just... comforting in an odd way. He still misses his sisters sometimes. She's not exactly like any of them, but there's a protective urge he still recognizes in himself. He hopes she won't take it personally, either. He's like that about Steve and he's not exactly helpless these days, either.

"River." He squeezes her hand gently and considers if he should bother lying when she's obviously got some abilities that make it hard to get away with things like that.

"Just some bad memories."
