The man himself is a bit of an odd phrase, and Jim looks briefly puzzled. He's yet to be convinced of his own historical impact; even 'saving the Federation' is something he routinely brushes off. The notion any of that could possibly be a solo effort is ludicrous, and while Ambassador Spock had a high opinion of him, he was ... biased. Especially.
"Picard." Sounds less punchy than Kirk or Pike. He pretends to mull over the suitability of that, but gives it up and smiles, aware of his own ridiculousness.
"Helping people is what we do, right, so it wasn't like I'd have even denied him if he bothered to ask. But screwing with everyone's heads means he's still on my shit list."
And, horrors:
"At least he owes me, I guess. It'd be nice if he could sort this disaster, but I've yelled into the void already. No dice. Let me know if you ever get anything out of him."
