It's for the best that Janeway is blissfully unaware of the events that transpired shortly after Voyager was lost in the Delta Quadrant. It would add a new layer of sadness to an already depressing tale were she able to share with him that the other James T. Kirk had been trapped in a nexus, only to perish not long after emerging. One can only imagine what it was like for Ambassador Spock — and Captain Scott — to learn that their fallen comrade had been alive the whole time, only to be gone again.

"Unfortunately, screwing with people's heads is what he does best. Especially if the Q you met is the one that hails from the height of his troublesome days. Sadly, I'm not surprised to hear that he wiped everyone's memories clean and denied you the opportunity to properly report on him. He was practically intolerable before the Continuum came down on him, and he would not appreciate me sharing that with you."

Which is why she says it in a conspiratorial tone, as that's precisely why she's sharing it with him.

"They made him human once. Demoted him, stripped him of his omnipotence and control over space and time."

At his suggestion that they ask Q for assistance in getting out of her, Janeway laughs. "Oh, I am far from reaching the point where I'm willing to call out to Q for help."
