It sounds to me like if you've got some parts and a good idea, you're already halfway there. And fuck whoever gave up on it and their vision. They gave it up- it's yours now. You can do whatever you want with it. You can toss it or you can build something new, but you're not beholden to the vision of someone who wasn't willing to put the work in.
