Now, if this theory is true, of course, the real mystery is why.

Why the previous refuges had felt as if they needed to escape. Why the orbiters felt so threatened by them coming down to this planet under their own volition that they resorted to shooting them down. And why the ancestors of those who managed to escape and survive here seem to hold so much distrust and anger towards the Orbiters to the point that they're even willing to risk the safety of this very planet by aiding us a little as possible.

And yet still offering us, the refugees, an opportunity to stay here away from them.
