Well, you might as well settle in! It's a very long and unpleasant story.
[He's gonna poof back another glass of wine for himself, thanks.]
Lucifer... is the king of light. My older brother, and the most influence demon in all of Gehenna. He is among the most powerful demons who exist... but as a result of this, finding a suitable vessel that can contain his power is quite difficult. It's the fate of all demon kings, though he certainly has it the worst -- his bodies rarely last more than ten years before painfully breaking down in the same manner you saw when I was afflicted by the dragon's rot.
But more excruciating than the process itself... is to lose the freedom that comes with having a body. While ordinary demons would simply die, we cannot. Instead, we return to the concept from which we were born -- a state of being that becomes simply unbearable when compared to the sheer intoxication of having one's own sense of self, and the ability to process the world around us through our senses.
I find it's rather difficult to explain such an existence to those who've never experienced it for themselves.
