[It's nice not to hear any anger in his voice -- stating facts, as they are. It's not as though Mephisto can just turn back time and convince himself to feel remorse for his actions-- or at least, not anymore.]
Although peace may have reached Assiah proper, behind the scenes, things weren't quite as stable as they seemed. It was about a hundred years ago... Lucifer called all of us together and informed us that he had finally reached the limit. Being with a body was painful, being without a body was painful...
And so he planned to kill himself by unleashing all of his power onto the world -- effectively destroying everything, and returning both worlds to the state of nothingness they were before light and life existed.
That is the sort of power we possess, you see. Lucifer is several magnitudes more powerful than myself -- and even I could bring about the end of times if I were so inclined.
[Or, well-- he could before. But he can't anymore, obviously. Not that he'd ever be inclined to do so. One hardly needs to know Mephisto well to see he greatly enjoys living.]
