It might be considered outright cruel, but TJ is well aware of the fact that she's going to die alone. She's not afraid of it, she accepts it as fact, but it doesn't stop it from being a harsh truth that sometimes catches her a little more off-guard than she wants to admit. It's in those moments - the ones that just happened - that drive home the knowledge.

She feels bad for dragging Richie into it and apologizes to that effect. "I'm sorry you had to, you know. See that." That he felt like he had to stay. "It's just something that's going to happen in a few years and there's nothing I can do."
TJ manages another smile, almost embarrassed. "I'm just glad you had an answer. I appreciate it. I'll tell Dr Fraser about this so someone else can be on the look out, too."
