As much as she wants to explain how it felt to be alone in the moment she realized what was happening, she doesn't think he'll understand, which means that the importance of his being there will be lost on him as well. When she thinks of what could have gone wrong - if it hadn't been just a few minutes, if the symptoms had progressed to affect her breathing, or worse - it doesn't make her feel better. Still, she doesn't want him to feel as if it's his job to watch over her.
