Given the fact that he's in the forest searching for people who've gone missing, Jack should have noticed the woman leaning against the tree long before she speaks. As it is, though, ever since he entered the forest, he's been so incredibly taken with it, so soundly drawn in by its enticing and inviting aura, that he hasn't been able to focus on his mission at all; it's not until she speaks that he realizes he's walked right by her, and it takes him a moment to gather his attention enough to turn and look back to her. As much as she's caught him off guard, however, he doesn't react with surprise. Rather, he grins a little, moving his gaze from her to the tree she was leaning against, as if considering. When he answers, it's with a bit of a laugh.
"I hadn't noticed, no, but I suppose you're right. Are you speaking from experience, or are you just planning on testing that out?"
Within the forest...
