Jim's glad he doesn't have to drag her, but the grip he's got on her hand and the pointed way he's walking suggests he'd have been willing to, if at some point she changed her mind. Her reaction as soon as the control - or whatever it was - lifted told him all he needs to know: she wasn't there by choice, and so he wasn't going to leave her, period.
