Jim's glad he doesn't have to drag her, but the grip he's got on her hand and the pointed way he's walking suggests he'd have been willing to, if at some point she changed her mind. Her reaction as soon as the control - or whatever it was - lifted told him all he needs to know: she wasn't there by choice, and so he wasn't going to leave her, period.

"We were asked to go investigate various local disappearances," Jim says, deciding to go over the known series of events instead of asking what's the last thing you remember?, hoping to let her jog her own memory. "A few people went out, and then those among us started vanishing, too. I've been exploring Josa but it's like an endless maze that keeps trying to bribe me into quitting."
