Jim, who lives all the way down in Wyver, didn't head up with the first one - too much going on to just drop his work rebuilding and aiding local institutions. He's only one person, etc. But the missing refugees a few weeks later were too significant to ignore, and he felt like he'd be remiss in not going in to take a look. Good thing he did, apparently. He seems to be in a minority not effected by the strange influence.

They're heading to a busier area, a little less sleepy and quaint, a little more diverse, where other refugees and natives from other cities are lodging while investigating or exploring.
