He knows too many people who'd be too resistant to just letting themselves submit to take for granted that Juno is just going to sit and take it. The actual moment of it is immediate enough, though, that he reacts a little too instinctively, and the shadows in the water churn underneath him...

A barrier made up of the several shadow tentacles he might've accidentally called up when Juno lunged at him, now being used to keep him pushed upright enough that straddling him isn't really an option.]
