Assiah and Gehenna are two sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other. If Assiah is indeed gone, then so too is Gehenna.
[It's not like you can look out and "see" Gehenna as you can with Assiah, but he can't imagine there'd be any way of reaching it if Assiah were swallowed by the Storm. In that sense, it was as good as gone regardless.]
