riza
It's frustrating, but it can't be helped. If nothing else, he knows that Rai is competent enough to make it to El Nysa. He may get lost once there, but Frankenstein will find him.
He can't do this alone. So, he feels understandably relieved when he sees a familiar face near himself an the teleporter. He knows firsthand that if Riza is anything like she was within the virtual reality, she is levelheaded and competent. This is important. He gives her a small, friendly smile. ]
I hate to be a burden, Riza, but it seems like I'll need your help.
no subject
But Rai is not here, Riza is, and she has every confidence in both Frankenstein and the yet-unnamed and unknown Cadis Etrama di Raizel. If it's help he needs, then she'll happily provide it. ]
Not a burden at all - I'd be happy to assist. Those with more experience should share their knowledge and guide those who are newer, should they not?
[ That's always been her own personal conviction, at least, though she knows not all share in that belief.
While the requirements themselves are easy enough to complete, she also realizes that not everyone is comfortable with idle contact with veritable strangers, and she smiles ruefully. ]
I hope you don't mind a little bit of physical contact. It's the only way down, unfortunately.
no subject
That's rather humanitarian of you. Then again, I should expect no less from a woman who made those types of quick decisions in the simulation we shared.
[ The type of person that tries to find a solution to save the maximum amount of people as possible... the type of person he strives to become, but doesn't always quite get there.
His eyes widen. ] Oh? What kind of physical contact? [ physical contact encompasses a lot of possibilities okay...... and he's already had his fair share of awkward interactions, so he's wary. ]

[ It's perhaps talk a little too sober for their current (benign) predicament, but she's always been overly serious to the point where people had called her stern and cold. At the least, she realizes the dip and mood and quickly tries to correct it, smiling. ]
Though this decision won't be nearly as impactful. I believe the requirement is to hold hands, but if it would make you comfortable, we could simply touch fingers.
[ At least, she hopes that'll work. ]

[ The same could be said for him-- truly, no conversation topic when it pertained to serious matters was off-limits. It's kind of a refreshing change compared to everyone else's ic shitposting.
He laughs lightly at that. ]
Oh, no. How scandalous. But, I think I can manage this. [ It's a joke, because even though this is Val's kink, it's the least offensive thing. He offers his hand. ] If you don't mind being my guide?
no subject
But Riza, at least, is a lady and nothing short of courteous, and so she takes the proffered hand in her own, grip solid and firm. (She's not a delicate flower, by any means.) ]
Of course not. Though, [ her voice takes on something of a warning note as they step into the teleporter and it takes on a faint glow in preparation ] the first trip can be—disorienting.
[ But don't worry Frankie, if you fall, she'll be there to catch you. ]

[ Her grip is firm, fitting of a woman with proven strong resolve, but warm nonetheless. He makes sure to hold on firmly himself, not wanting to lose her in the depths of space.
Though, maybe it's because this is his first time traveling instantaneously, but the flash of light followed by the sudden landing still catches him by surprise. It is only because Riza warned him that he manages to keep control of his balance, but even then, only barely. He stumbles forward a bit, surprised at the amount of whiplash, and looks over to his companion, concerned. Did she make it?! ]

Anyway, they zip down to Olympia with a minimum of fuss—or are meant to at least, but things don't turn out quite that way. Despite the number of times she's teleported before, her landing this time around doesn't go as smooth as it usually does. Her foot catches on something - a small stone, a piece of debris - uneven just enough that, combined with Frankenstein's own stumble, she tips forward with a small yelp, the ground rushing up to meet her. ]
no subject
He moves quickly in front of her, breaking her stumble with his chest and arms, hands bracing themselves gently along her shoulders. ]
Does this not get any easier with time? [ He sounds lighthearted about it, though. ]
no subject
She's not a woman prone to bouts of embarrassment and shame, but it's hard not to feel acutely self-aware when she's pressed up against his chest and his hands are warm against her arms. It's not often she's within inches of another person, let alone inches of an attractive man she holds in high regard.
Of course, she's quick to right herself, pulling away and putting a respectable amount of distance between the two of them. There's a pale flush to her cheeks now though, at odds with the otherwise composed set of her shoulders and face. ]
It does, but it seems as though I misstepped somewhere. Thank you for catching me.
[ Also thanks for letting her feel up those nice muscles, Frankie. ]
no subject
It's surprising, and enough to cause his eyes to widen. Now he feels a little awkward about their closeness, too. He hesitates very briefly with what to say next, lest he accidentally embarrass her further. ]
I'm sure you would have done the same for me. Although, given my size, we're pretty lucky I'm not the one who landed on that rock.
[ He looks around at their surroundings. ] So this is Olympia?
no subject
Let's hope that doesn't come to pass the next time you land in Olympia.
[ Especially if he's traveling by his lonesome.
But for now, there's all of Olympia's residential district to explore, though perhaps they should find his lodgings first. Actually, he hasn't been assigned a place to live yet, has he, nor gained his official papers. ]
It is, though there's someplace we'll need to stop first before you have free roam.
[ Come on, Frankie, follow the nice woman who looks like she knows where she's going. ]
no subject
[ At least, he figures that's what she means. Either way, he's still glad to have such a knowledgeable guide.
Once they head into the main square, it isn't long before an official finds them, and stops to see his papers.
After a particularly unpleasant and tense interaction, Frankenstein remains apparently unshaken, though that may be because he hasn't noticed that the nametag he wears has changed in content. No longer does it merely say his name and house, but also:
Secretly, I am over 2000 years old, get way too overexcited about violence, and ask to see my dark spear! ]
no subject
Though even without their bumbling, the officials of Olympia find them quick, either forewarned of an incoming wave of new Refugees or simply through sheer luck. It's not a pleasant encounter, this particular official bearing some unexplained ill will to the both of them, but as with all things it ends eventually, the man huffing in annoyance as he lumbers away, no doubt to find another new arrival to terrorize.
This isn't her city, nor even her government, but she feels obligated to apologize all the same. ]
With any luck, that'll be the last we see of him.
[ The name listed on his badge she already knows, but the facts listed, as always, are quite new to her. She eyes the name a moment before asking: ]
Is this 'dark spear' mentioned on your name badge a weapon?
[ Or is it a euphemism? Either way, she should probably...ask about it more generally before asking to see it. Not that she hasn't seen a man's dangly bits before, but they are out in public. ]
no subject
[ Time and time again has shown that. So while he's soured to the experience, he doesn't blame the man entirely.
He looks genuinely taken aback that Riza casually mentions Dark Spear, momentarily stunned into silence until he looks down at what she's looking at. ]
Ah!
[ That's... a whole lot of unwanted spoilers offered all at once. For once, he actually looks embarrassed about something, laughing nervously. ]
That's too much.
[ He's laughing, but he's actually livid, to have his privacy invaded like that. Not at Riza, but at whoever did this. Still, he addresses her rather easily. ]
But yes, Dark Spear is my main weapon. It's not exactly something ideal for show and tell, though... [ It'd be really weird... why is this nametag like this. ]
why do i always end up making the spear jokes
I see.
[ So he's that type of man then, is he? Well, he's attractive enough that his success rates in his endeavours must surely be high. ]
Two thousand years is a long time to perfect such skills.
[ He must really be good with that spear of his by now. :pepehm: ]
nasty
Yes, I suppose so… [ How does he continue without airing more of his dirty laundry but making sure she gets the idea this isn’t something weird… ]
Dark Spear is capable of terrible devastation. I hope not to have to use it, but if it is necessary to fight in order to keep this world peaceful, I do whatever it takes to protect it.
[ So… not a dick joke :pepecry:. He then smiles warmly at Riza. ] And you, Miss Riza. Though I have no doubt you can take care of yourself.
