Warning(s): Sick.. stuff?? idk probably nothing but will update if necessary.
PART 1;
a; aftermath
[ alisaie is not present in the marketplace when the attack occurs, but the resounding boom cannot be missed, even from her home flat. it's a hectic hour or so while she rushes to figure out what has happened, and when riza returns home sick she feels a heavy misgiving sink deep into her stomach. disease is not an enemy she can fight with her rapier, it's something insidious, something sneaky and unpredictable - gods help them find a remedy soon.
immediately, she's dashing right to work. with riza ill they'll need supplies - healthy foods, spare blankets, medicinal herbs, ice, a great deal of ice. once she's set with her list she's off to the institute and markets to gather what useful things she can, stuffing them into a canvas shoulder bag, but you can certainly bet that she'll stop to assist in any way she can, whether it's righting an overturned cart or leading those who were injured in the panic to the sanctuary.
of course, it's not long before she's feeling rather warm and dizzy herself and, of course, chalking it up to the rush and mayhem. maybe she'll just.. sit down a moment. ]
b; sickbed;
[ alisaie is an awful patient.
keeping her in bed is no easy task, and there's an itch under her skin that urges her to move, to work - there's so much she could be doing, ways she could be helping. this disease is a godsdamned prison.
she's responsible enough to at least not mingle with the public, lest she spread this horrible mystery illness further, but she cannot remain strictly indoors in bed for so long, not without losing her mind. so when she can, when the weather is tepid, alisaie sits on the second floor deck of her flat, wrapped up in a blanket, usually with a book (or stack of books), enjoying the fresh air on her too-hot face. ]
c; reaching out
[ what else can you do when you're more or less bedbound? catch up on the internet, of course. mostly, alisaie keeps an eye on the network for any updates, and takes the time to reach out to those she knows, to doublecheck that they're safe. if you've met her even once or twice, chances are she will toss a line out and test the waters. incoming message from RedMage: ]
This is Alisaie; how are you faring?
PART 2;
a; wandering
[ it's late evening the first time she sees him.
though first she hears him, the familiar voice of her grandfather calling her out of her dreams, warm and welcoming. she wakes in her bed, slick with fever sweat and surrounded by silence - mayhaps she had misheard it? it must have been a dream, her head is spinning. but then it comes again, distinct and clear; it has been years since she last heard his voice but it is not a sound that she would ever forget. ]
Grandfather..?
[ dizzy and disoriented, she climbs out of bed and stumbles toward the open window, squinting into the slanting light of sunset just in time to see the shape of him, louisoix leveilleur's all too familiar form disappearing around the corner. immediately her heart kicks up into her throat and alisaie gasps and turns, stumbling back through her bedroom and out of the house, down the stairs and onto the street barefoot, in her nightdress, to follow a ghost. ]
No, please wait.. don't leave me again..
[ how long she wanders in this delirium she cannot say, but her feet are sore and scratched and muddy, her hair down and wild from sleep and the tugging winds. she may run right into you, or trip over a flagstone, but short of forceful intervention nothing will keep her from her goal. ]
b; friendly fire
[ for those of you unlucky enough to visit her (or stop by her home for some other purpose) while the symptoms continue to worsen, you will find that her delirium has not abated. between bouts of lucidity and sleep she tries still to wander, to follow the voices and phantoms of her family and friends to whatever oblivion they might call her to, but it is not only friends she sees. sometimes it is enemies or horrible, twisted monsters. it's hardly a problem if she wanders outside, weaponless, but any creak of sound within her home would easily alert her.
blinking blearily, alisaie tumbles out of bed at the noise, her heart thudding and her mind cloudy, and she does not think twice before taking up her rapier and focus which lie across a chair in her room and stumbling into the dimly lit common area. her voice is rough from coughing. ]
Who.. who goes there?
[ catchall for october! alisaie will spent much of it being sick, apparently, so feel free to crash her place and visit.. make sure she stays in bed. get her texts or send her one, or meet up in the market!! if none of these prompts work for you i'm more than happy to work something out and write up a starter. ♥ plotting comment is here, or i can be reached on plurk for planning. i'm game! ]

She was. There's no doubt about it... but— [ She straightens her back, gaze settling back on the girl in front of her. She needs to stand her ground and prove her innocence, or else someone dear to her will have all the right to suspect her as a criminal. ] —if I'm right then it's all linked to a weird job we must have all accepted. But we had nothing to do with what happened today. [ Even if they all... kinda did... rip. ] I promise you I have no idea what's going on.
no subject
But why in the world..
[ a hard exhale, and alisaie shakes her head, gathering her thoughts. more important than the why right now is the what - surely she's a wanted woman now, it's only a matter of time before the authorities come after her, innocent or not. ]
How can I help?
no subject
... Thank you, Alisaie. [ First and foremost. ] Um, well, that's where I'm stuck, to be honest.
[ Since this is all before she decides to run off with Giovanni and the gang rip. ]
But I don't want to turn myself in. There's just... something about the Olympians that I don't trust.
no subject
[ it's.. difficult. they've been here for several moons now, and yet in some ways it still feels as if they've yet to find their footing. this isn't so simple as moving a town over, or even a nation over - they're in an entirely new world. learning who to trust is not easy when you know next to nothing.
but it's clear by the pinch in her brow that alisaie is worried - if leanne is caught there is no telling whether or not she will be given a fair trial, or even given a trial at all, and alisaie isn't lawful good enough to stick to the rules. but how in the world can she help? biting her lip, she glances back toward riza's room, then up to leanne again. ]
I wish I could offer better advice. Mayhaps there is some way to clear your name?
no subject
I don't know if I can, but... go check up on Riza. We can talk some more once you're done. Planning something out is gonna take a longer time than making sure she's okay.
no subject
a sigh, and she turns just a little, but her eyes are still on leanne. ]
I'll be only a moment.
[ .. ]
Please, don't do anything foolish.
no subject
Leanne wants to smile, to laugh it off, but considering the situation she opts not to. She knows of it to be inappropriate and so the decision isn't made with a second thought, quietly obligating with a short nod of her head before the other girl excuses herself. ]
I'll... be on my best behavior.
[ Nailed it. ]
no subject
not that she could do much about it while her back is turned anyway, but.. they'll figure something out. she'll see to riza, formulate that list she needs and then they'll.. they'll find a way, they'll work it out however they must.
so she's off for the moment, but if you're not there when she comes back leanne so help her...!!!!! ]
no subject
I'M KIDDING!!
Leanne remains still, if only moving over to a nearby couch to sit and wait rather than stand awkwardly. Playing with strands of hair and slowly reminding herself of a conversation a few days prior about how awful her roots were looking since she hadn't bleached her hair. Of course that fact only has her wondering about possibly changing the color.
But anyway, yeah, she's waiting patiently until she comes back!! ]
no subject
alisaie is quick about it, it's only a few long minutes before she's emerging again, very quietly shutting riza's door behind her. at first she doesn't see leanne, and her heart kicks up in surprise, but oh no, she's just on the sofa, okay.
exhaling in a heavy sigh, alisaie moves to drop down beside her, passing a hand over her brow. ]
All right. We'll figure this out.
no subject
But first: ]
Are you alright? You're not pushing yourself, are you?
[ Kind of a stupid question, really. Alisaie is known for constantly pushing herself. ]
... I don't really know what all we can do, really. Other than finding the guy who originally gave me the job and getting him to reveal everything.
no subject
[ famous last words... she's far more concerned for leanne and riza at this point, one ill with a mystery disease and the other a wanted fugitive - gods, how did so much go wrong with this house so quickly?
not for the first time, she wishes her brother were here. alphinaud has always been exceedingly clever, he'd know what to do, his advice would certainly be more valuable than charge-in-the-front-doors-guns-blazing alisaie's. ]
Aye, that's probably the best we could hope for. Where was it you last saw him?
no subject
Well he wasn't there when he brought the carriage to the South Outpost. The last time I spoke to him was in Shades Darker, where I took the job, there were a few girls around him and he seemed to be a regular... but I doubt he'd show his face there again. [ It would be all too perfectly convenient. But then again Leanne has had a lot of life changing experiences that came from mere convenience. ] Unless he's both brave and stupid.
no subject
If he were indeed in any way behind this attack then it's unlikely he will return anywhere he might be sought again - but mayhaps there is a chance that someone will have recognized him. A merchant or vendor, anyone who is there often enough to remember the faces they regularly see. It is an unlikely thread.. but the only one you have to grasp at the moment, I think.
[ and what were you doing at shades darker, missy?? ]
no subject
It seems like it. Honestly, just the thought of how many hoops me and everyone else involved are going to have to jump through just to get this resolved makes my head hurt... [ Not that it's bothersome. In fact it's quite the opposite, given the fact that she has more reason now than ever to pursue this cautiously. ]
Look... I'm really sorry. That this all happened, and now you've got so much on your plate with Riza sick [ whom she'll apologize to later ] plus you're housing a fugitive. [ She reaches out, gingerly placing a hand on top of the other girls before that hesitance quickly wears off and she's curling her fingers to grasp her hand. ] But I'm so glad that you're here. And that you listened. I honestly don't know what I'd be like if I was alone right now.
[ A hot mess is what she'd be like tbh. ]
no subject
Of course.
[ casual friendly touch has never been something.. normal, for alisaie, but she's grown more and more used to it with every day spent here. if she tenses when leanne's hand finds hers it is only for a moment, and it's followed up soon after by a soft sigh, alisaie's features creasing with concern, her chest tightening painfully. ]
I'm quite used to a rather hectic lifestyle, it was only a matter of time before it caught up with me. You needn't worry yourself on my account.
[ and, with her opposite hand moving to lie over leanne's, she squeezes. ]
What little I can do to help, you can be sure I will. Suffice it to say if anyone asks, I have not seen you.
no subject
Actually I... may need a little bit of your help now, since you mentioned it.
[ Besides the obvious. ]
I woke up one morning a few days ago to find some hair dye I used back home. Which was convenient, really, since my roots have started showing. [ She chuckles lightly, even if the state of her hair is a wreck. ] And what better to do in a situation like this than change my identity?
no subject
so, with one last squeeze to leanne's hand, she releases before getting to her feet. ]
A fine idea. Go and get it then, and I will meet you in the kitchen?
[ it's.. a start, at least. ]
