[ he remains silent for a while, glancing out of the alleyway he's dragged her into, before finally letting out a slight sigh of relief. ]

It doesn't seem so... not now.

[ finally satisfied that he's not being pursued, he lets go of juvia. he actually looks a bit sheepish, as if he hadn't really realized what he'd been doing to begin with. ]

Sorry. It's been quite a day so far.

[ and honestly, he couldn't be sure at the time she wasn't about to attack him as well. there have been others he thought he could trust that... apparently didn't feel the same way about him. ]

[ Juvia watches him, patient with his response. She understand the feeling of being pursued, so she sees no reason to make him any more tense by rushing him. She moves, looking in the direction he glances out of, once he releases her. ]

It's fine.

[ She can only imagine how he's been, since news broke out. Since everything broke out. Being sick has kind of prevented her from contacting most of everyone, especially the ones she's most worried about.

Juvia approaches him, a hand moving up to gently touch his arm, initially unsure of what to say before settling with-- ] Are you alright, Archer?

[fakers]

[ when she touches his arm, he winces slightly. he still has injuries that are fresh, even if he's done his best to conceal them. almost embarrassed at letting his mask slip for a moment, he pulls away slightly. ]

Well enough. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to be as understanding as you are.

[ in some cases, they had even been people he trusted. no, trust was too strong a word, but at least people he'd been acquainted with previously.

if anything has been hammered today, it's really how foolish it is to trust anyone. though he glances at juvia, studying her expression for a moment. ]

And what about you? You may not be on the run, but I don't think today has been good for anyone.

[ Juvia's eyes lower to the ground, hand withdrawing, as she breathes out of her nose. When she keys in on his blatant slip up, on what it might mean, it makes her the slightest bit angry.

The mentality that people are taking towards those they think are responsible isn't something she'd ever condone. ]

Juvia doesn't think you'd do something malicious, like that.

[ He saved her, after all. Even if they don't know each other all too well, he's given her proof enough that it feels out of place to think he'd do it. ]

..You're right, about that. I've been under the weather lately. But Juvia is holding hope it will get better soon.

[fakers]

I'm afraid you have too high an opinion of me... but in this case, you aren't wrong.

[ he's certainly capable of doing terrible things, but she's right that he would never knowingly cooperate in an indiscriminate attack against innocent people.

though he's more than willing to give other people the impression that he is. ]

...take care of yourself. [ it's hard to know what the extent of this sickness might be, but it's clear enough it's nothing good. ] In some ways, your situation may be even more unfortunate than mine.

[ She doesn't need his words to know she's right. But she buries her desire to argue with him, to prove that she has valid points for her very Reasonable opinion, because she knows neither of them needs that right now. ]

Maybe. But our situations are entirely different. Juvia knows you can't compare them. [ Her voice softens, thinking that this whole situation isn't fair for anyone. ] If it weren't for Rin, he and I would both be in the same position as you. It's easy to forget what a job might entail.

[ She steps a little closer to him. ]

Do you need to stay somewhere, until nightfall?

[fakers]

So you considered it as well? You should thank this... Rin, then.

[ on the contrary, archer had help when he fulfilled the task... someone who likely could have exonerated him now, knowing full well that archer hadn't delivered the weapons that message claimed he did.

unfortunately, that person is gone now... so there's no one left to truly prove him innocent. ]

No, I don't think I can afford to do nothing for that long. [ a pause. ] But... a little rest to recuperate wouldn't be a bad idea.

You're right. [ She stays quiet after that, only adding a slight nod to her head as she looks down. She knows she needs to-- the thought hasn't crossed her mind outside of the fact they're both safe from being hunted. ]

Then you can rest until you wish to leave.

[ Which brings her to her friend, who is actually being hunted. And is not as lucky as she is. ]

And are you injured at all, Archer?

[fakers]

Minor wounds, nothing serious.

[ if she looks closely, she can likely see some holes in his garb... the wounds themselves have mostly closed, though there are some blood stains mixed into his red cloak.

thankfully, it mostly obscures them. ]

I heal quickly.

[ She definitely does notice those little holes, only because she gives him the most painstakingly long once over he'd probably experience in his life. It's not like she can really say he doesn't heal quickly-- she may know Archer, but she doesn't know him. ]

Juvia believes you.

[ Before she steps towards the direction they entered the alley, she turns to look at him. ]

Being out in the open isn't ideal for you, so would you prefer taking side streets?

[fakers]

The less exposed I am, the better. Unfortunately, not everyone is as trusting as you.

[ or perhaps they simply don't care? he's already come across at least one person who really didn't have any interest in whether he was innocent or not: they simply wanted the price on his head. ]

Does it not tempt you at all? The bounty.

Juvia has friends who also have a price out on their heads. [ People who she is closer with than Archer. She continues speaking as she walks, leading the both of them out of the alleyway and through a nearby side street. ] It's not a job I'm interested in.

[ This is something that they'd probably want her to do. ]

And regardless of that, I have a debt to repay.

[fakers]

I see. Well, it's good to know that you're trustworthy.

[ though she'd never struck him as the type to stab someone in the back just for a quick buck. ]

Oh? And what is that debt?

You saved Juvia from being eaten.

[ Although she wonders if it's worth mentioning, since he needed to ask why to begin with. ]

So it's only fair I return the favor.

[fakers]

Ah, that. It's been so long I'd nearly forgotten.

[ well, not really, but he'd still rather play it off as not a big deal. ]

Consider that debt repaid then.
