I was sold into service when I was quite a young child.
[this is better than touching on the truth but it covers enough. Trying to be vague always feels like he ends up giving more away]
The house dealt in hospitality, so there were always guests of the master to mind... but I enjoyed tending the gardens myself, when I had free time.
