"Empathy." He repeats, testing the word on his lips. "I understand." Except he doesn't, not really. He understands the idea of empathy as a theoretical, but but cannot truly comprehend what it means to feel sorrow when someone else is sad, or happiness when someone else laughs. He barely understands his own emotions, let alone how others feel.

"The ones who instigated the attack knew those who were affected no less than you did, yet they proceeded regardless. Under the supposition that they were fully aware of the potential effects of their actions, would you say the factor of 'empathy' was absent?"
