peter parker / the amazing spider-man ( OTA )

DESCENT.
( it all happens too fast. he doesn't remember falling asleep, and thats because he hasn't slept well at all since it all happened. if he's not keeping vigil by his aunt or ghosting the cafeteria, Peter only seems to get an hour of sleep here or there, if that. he seems to hold every hour against himself when he bothers, so generally he doesn't. so it's even more jarring to suddenly wake to disaster.

his first thought is, regretably, that he's not ready to help. his suit is on under his clothes, but his mask is out of his reach in the pod he's contained in. the alarms send his heartbeat skyrocketing, the words of faces he still doesn't know or understand repeating in his ears when the eject happens.

super senses are no help, when it comes to being ejected from a spaceship, turns out. he can sense things before they happen, but he can't sense what. and worse yet, there's nothing he can do about everything he's sensing, it's total sensory overload the entire trip, until suddenly it stops. he was... well, he was definitely expecting a harsher landing than that. there's no way to take the force completely, that's not how force works, it's a slow and sudden descent instead of brutal impact, and he's silently relieved for it before he tears open and kicks out the door, desperate to be out.

its only after he's crawled onto the sand that he realizes that someone had helped that descent, and that someone could also see how he'd more or less torn that door open.
) I think it's broken. ( nice save, Parker. they totally hadn't noticed it wasn't broken when they caught you. if they're the one that did it, anyway. ) Am I broken? ( that second one he didn't mean to say. he flops on the ground on his back, more than a little dazed. )

SAVING.
( he doesn't understand what is going on, not as much as he'd like to. and he doesn't know how he feels about Darma, or the Orbiters, or the planet they were expected to blend into now. in the end, none of that matters. what does matter, is that people are still falling, people that don't know any better than he does. people that need help. he'd been sleeping on the job for too long, it's the opposite of what Gwen would have wanted for him. he can't ignore this now, he can't ignore things ever again.

Peter Parker has been selfish enough. it was about time Spider-Man was a hero, again. again, or for once; he can't decide which anymore.

at least, his abilities are well suited to the chaos of the descent. once he's out of his own pod, suited up and face hidden, he's all over and everywhere all at once. he can catch pods and try to set them as softly as possible. Spider-Man can pry open hatches with brute strength and even fuss with the wiring until they open of their own accord. his webbing has been handy to slow down a few pods that were coming in too fast, too. and, of course, feeling trouble before it hits is awfully handy when there's trouble everywhere.

he feels impact of another pod before he can see it, and it has slowed to a safe descent, the pod will be fine, but the poor wandering soul in its landing path probably won't. there's no warning, just a line of webbing and a tug, and suddenly and rather awkwardly, the would-be victim is in his arms.
) Hi. Sorry. I was just — ( the pod lands, abruptly, and he gestures a free gloved hand. see? you're welcome. )

RESTING.
( once its all said and done, and emphasis on all — every pod pried open, all resources collected, a camp ramshackle together — it's about then that Peter Parker can be spotted in a useless sprawl near a campfire. he seems hilariously exhausted and possibly a little banged up, especially when he was nowhere to be seen for the worst of it. funny how that works out...

maybe you just didn't notice him. it's a lot easier to notice him now when he mutters,
) Look, I remember my anatomy class, but I'm pretty sure there's muscles under my muscles that hurt right now. Bi muscles. Secondary muscles. Something. ( it's not clear if he's talking to someone or himself, especially when he barely lifted his head to say it. he tries to stand up, winces, and shakes his head. ) Nevermind. I like it here. This place is cool.

( or maybe someone can offer him a hand to peel the kid off the floor... clearly he overworked himself a little. )

WILDCARD.
