[ he isn't a superhero. sometimes, he isn't even sure that he's a hero — has he done enough to deserve that? he isn't doing it to be one; he's doing what he does because it's right, because someone needs to do it, because he's passionate about it. there's nothing super about it, anyway; he isn't a jedi or anything. he's just a damn good pilot.
(maybe he's more. maybe he's someone who can lead, too. general organa seemed to think so.)
he may not be a superhero, but there are still plenty similarities. poe knows how to keep his head up and how to contribute, too, and that it's what he has to do. he knows that he needs to take care of himself, too, because how else can he take care of others? (there are plenty causes he would run himself into the ground for. he knows that, too.) ]
I think the thing I've always liked best about it is how alive everything is. There's life all around you at any moment.

Gee, Poe. Who knew what an existential guy you'd be!
[ She echoes out light laughter, not at all mocking and simply filled with playful amusement. Still, her body remains relaxed, a slight glow in her eyes from firelight reflecting in them. ]
That really is the best thing though, isn't it? Like an endless reminder that you're not on your own.
[ poe lets out a laugh as well at her words, genuinely amused rather than offended or hurt. ]
What can I say? I'm deep. [ he's not. at least he doesn't think that he is. he's just a guy trying to do the right thing, passionate about flying and justice. there's a million like him in the resistance, though none that can fly quite like he can.
but kate continues and his laughter quiets as he turns to look at her, their gazes catching. ] Yeah. Sometimes, it's good to be reminded.
