❪ october plot conclusion; wyver takes ❫

THE END TO THE EPIDEMIC

On the morning of November 3, there is a palpable buzz on the streets as both the natives of Wyver and Olympian refugees share the same sentiment: excitement. Word will quickly spread that a cure to VIOLET2710 has finally been developed and is ready for mass dissemination.

Throughout the city, the cure can be found at any of the numerous small temples and outposts of the Altar of Volkkra. The shamans of Volkkra will happily distribute the cure to any of the ill in need of it, without restraint. A joint venture between both Olympia and Wyver, citizens of both are granted equal access. As the lines form, the shamans will ask that able-bodied persons administer the cure to themselves and to others. Don't let the needles scare you! It'll only hurt a little.

At each of these outposts, signs will be posted giving credit to those who aided in the creation and manufacture of the cure:

Claire Fraser
Amaterasu
Pike Trickfoot
Charles Xavier
Alan Foster (Bruce Wayne)
Keyleth
Rosalind Lutece
Shinjiro Aragaki
Mipha
Wrathion
Dorian Pavus
Merlin
Morrigan
Clarke Griffin
Rose Lalonde
Peter Parker
Linnaeus
Zelda
John Watson
You Watanabe
Jean Grey
Mikleo
Daenerys Targaryen
Dylas
Frankenstein
Waver Velvet

As they distribute the cure, the shamans will note that those receiving the cure should give thanks to those named. Without their contributions, it may have taken much longer for the cure to be found and created in large enough quantities to save everyone.
SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO?

With Olympia and Wyver's fragile alliance still in effect and a cure to VIOLET2710 distributed, Olympia finally opens its gates once again to Refugees if they feel a little homesick. High-speed transportation will be available at record low costs as politicians, merchants, and other business owners desperately hurry home to salvage whatever they can from the terrorist attacks.

Refugees are advised to remain in Wyver until food rations can be recovered and the water can be decontaminated. However, those more personally attached to Olympia may discover that the city is preparing a mass call for volunteers that will go out in the near future. In the meantime, and understandably, you should do what you can to help the Wyver people. The Dragon city has started posting quests, not only for you to do your part, but for the Wyver people to gauge your worth as visitors to their sacred land.

Thesa also has an interest in the unfolding events. Refugees have now been exposed to both lands, and certainly some will find themselves more invested in one side than the other. Darma finally wakes from slumber to observe, and while she is thankful that Refugees are immersed in her world, there is something foreboding on the horizons. On the night of the 3rd, Darma will appear in your dreams for a conversation.

It has been some time, Refugee... ah, no, certainly not for me. I am Darma. It is my hope that Sael as served you well in my place. The Natha do not feel, but I must express gratefulness that I am able to return to you.

My greeting extends to both old and new faces. As we watch you, we see that this world and its people have begun to influence your hearts. In time, your loyalty to either of these lands, to Olympia or to Wyver, shall affect how you are seen by the other side. As observers, we are unable to provide either region a winning edge. Thus, once you pledge loyalty to one, you cannot use Thesa to teleport to the other.

Choose wisely, or choose none at all. There is no war for those who do not wish to see it. For those who do... if I may be prudent— this alliance will not last. Keep your friends close, Refugee, for they may not remain so if your allegiances conflict.

You will wake before you get a chance to reply.
THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM IN THE UNDERGROWTH

The locals often speak of a cursed place deep within Wyver territory, confounded by the spirits of dragons who passed long ago: those who still wish for vengeance on the people of Olympia for their untimely deaths. Though these stories began as nothing more than urban legends among the raiders and shamans, over time the idea has become mainstream. So much that the rumors have started causing unrest between the people of Wyver and their guests. More than a few people within Wyver have used these rumors as justification for opposing the current alliance with Olympia.

Many Wyver locals see these rumors as a sign that their ancestors disapprove of the alliance. As a result, those in charge have decided that it would be prudent to mitigate some of the anxiety from either side. Those who are willing to look into these rumors further will find themselves lead towards the darkest parts of Wyver, deep within the Undergrowth in a region devoid of light. The faint of heart will be advised against delving further.

Common among these rumors are accounts of people being attacked by an unseen enemy, or talk of possession and out-of-body experiences. Those who press on will find that the culprit is none other than a new, undocumented beast.

This creature is able to camouflage itself perfectly to its environment. This, paired with darkness of the deep Undergrowth, makes this beast nearly impossible to detect with the naked eye. The creature also release a noxious gas that can spark a range of emotional responses: some may grow hysterical, while others may be consumed by despair. The effects only last for minutes, though some may linger in the back of one's mind for hours after. While the creature does not actually attack people directly, the other beasts of the Undergrowth may take advantage of its victims.

Fortunately, Wyver is not looking for the creature's capture. They respect the delicate balance of the jungle as they see themselves as its protectors. For now, they only desire more information about this creature in order to assuage the people. Good luck and do your best to keep your wits!

ALRIA'S FULL MOON

While Olympians worship the ever-present light of Thesa, the people of Wyver are captivated by the smaller, yet ever-changing Alria. Alria cycles in and out of the night sky much like what denizens of Earth would remember as lunar phases, and those who are familiar with that may notice it is very similar to their own. And likewise, the creatures, men and women of Wyver are affected when Alria transitions into its full moon phase.

  • DRAGONS & LUNATICS —
The dragons are restless. Perhaps because this particular full moon is accompanied by far more human scent than they are typically used to, but there's no doubt that they are eyeing humans as they do fresh prey. That is exactly why humans or human-like refugees will be tasked to tame a particularly rowdy dragon stable.

The dragon mounts at Lhongha Stables have broken free from their homes, roaming aimlessly in the deep undergrowth. You and another will be advised to strip down to your undergarments (it's hot, relax a little, human!) and lure the dragons back to the stables with your bodies. Rowdy dragons do love their human flesh! "Just a hunch," says the owner of the stables, "But I bet they'll come running faster if they smell your human blood."

He laughs as he hands over a pocket knife if he sees you're not carrying a weapon. The owner assures you that the dragons have been trained not to attack unless told to, but who knows how serious he is about that?

  • JUNGLE HEAT (NSFW) —
The full moon affects Wyver in other ways as well. While Olympia has a district blessed by Thesa's light all year long, Wyver only feels it at a certain time of the month. "The Heat" lasts for a full week starting on a full moon. You'll see it everywhere. Olympia has its lust confined in a single district, but in Wyver, during the phase of the full moon, the lust is everywhere. The people of Wyver will be friendlier then, offering you ale and meat. They sing songs of destroying their enemies up north, but even the native Olympians won't be able to will themselves to be angry when Alria shines upon them.

Perhaps you'll be find yourself affected, too, by Alria's light. And it's okay to get touchy; it isn't like the locals care about public displays of affection when they most certainly are getting handsy themselves.

  • THE PACT OF VOLKKRA
Shamans, too, participate in celebrations of Alria's full moon. During the event, the shamans will give pairs each a couple of blessed dragon teeth necklaces. Wyver tradition states that if a shaman approves you as a pair, then you are granted a chance to form a Volkkran Pact. This pact, the shaman will explain, will bond a pair as an unstoppable team, granting one another a small influence on each others' powers.

"King Shanrian and his Pact, Counsel Shenya benefit from this. Shenya was granted physical strength, and our King his Counsel's perception. It has made quite a difference."

THE VOLKKRAN PACT AT NAMARAK SUMMIT

Despite being mistaken for a pair, there is no need to take the shaman's advice. The necklace will disappear if the Pact isn't completed in a week's time. However, if the Pact's benefits might be something of interest to you and your partner, then you'll be advised to travel further south, until you reach Namarak Mountain. At the summit, you'll find an altar, where you and your partner are expected to return the necklaces and make a vow to support one another.

The shaman there isn't particularly interested in what you do to complete the Pact. In fact, many people who attempt the Pact tend to... go a bit further than is necessary, when it can be achieved through a simple kiss between the partners.

The Volkkran Pact's effects are immediate upon physical contact. Each Pact can be broken through a special process with the head Shaman, but there needs to be at least a month's time before one can sever it. The pairs may be fake and still receive the benefit of the Pact, though they may find that sharing power with someone they are not truly committed to is a mistake.

NOTE: Players may be creative about what powers can be shared. The recipients of the such powers can never be granted its full strength, but it may be strengthened with Wyver REP rewards. Please note that PCs does not need to pledge allegiance to Wyver in order to keep the Volkkran Pact; they will only need 10 Wyver REP in order to strengthen it. Refer to the questions thread below if you have any questions.
BUILD-A-BLADE WORKSHOP

Sirod, the weapon's head shopkeeper, is interested in procuring a few materials for his clients. While these clients have already collected the claws of larger beasts and various other parts needed to create their new weapons, they are still missing some rare, necessary items. In particular, they are still missing the following:

  • High Prisms — These tiny crystals attach themselves to the branches of older trees. They tend to hang near the tops of them, hiding in the shadows of the leaves. Unfortunately, retrieving them requires one… to climb. Hopefully you got a lot of tree climbing practice as a kid. Who knew that skill would ever come in handy?

  • Crystal Drop — These are normally found near bodies of water. Especially water that has been enchanted, past or present. The drops tend to cling to the floors of these mystical streams and lagoons. Those seeking them will also have to be careful not to be affected by the water’s properties. Perhaps that's part of the trick of gathering them.

  • Frozen Mylan Root — Mylans are a type of live vegetation that grows on Namarak Mountain. Constantly roaming in the warm seasons, they root themselves into fertile earth during the winter where they sleep until spring, making the snowy mountain ideal to acquire the roots. Plucking them from the ground takes strength, and slicing them will prove equally difficult... and of course, there is a blood-curdling scream when you wake it from its slumber. Well, it wouldn't be a real test of strength and emotional fortitude otherwise.

Those who retrieve any of these items will be rewarded 100 Silver.
FINAL OOC NOTE
An AC-eligible thread for 2 WYVER REP POINTS may be submitted from this log. SUBMIT THE THREAD HERE by DEC 10th 11:59 PM EST.

We will no longer be providing overflow posts. In an event where the post hits CAPTCHA, players are advised to move threads to an overflow post on their character journals or create their own catch-all post. These threads remain eligible for AC, AC Rewards, and REP.

1 SILVER = 1 US DOLLAR.

If a character chooses to stay in Wyver, will they still have opportunities to get Olympia rep or vice versa?

So my guess would be that a character can only make one Volkkran pact at a time, but just to clarify: is that the case? Or can a character be part of multiple pairs?

i'm sorry for being like this

Hello mods! Two questions:

1) Is it possible for characters to teleport from Wyver to Olympia via Thesa Station while bringing anything with them? For example, food to sell at a substantial profit. (Or if not, would it still be a profitable venture to bring food to Olympia the old fashioned way?)

2) For the Crystal Drops, are there any particular types of water enchantments that would be common, or should we just wing it?

Haru Okumura | Persona 5

[personal profile] frombetrayal 2017-11-03 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
sick-b-gone;
[Haru has never been more glad to hear about a newly-developed medicine than she is today.

She's not sick herself, but she knows plenty of people who are. It's probably impossible not to know at least one person who was affected by this. So here she is, up and at 'em and ready to go with helping to administer the cure.

Of course, on her way over, she'll keep an eye out for stragglers - anyone who seems like they're having trouble getting to where they need to be to get it.]

Please, allow me.

[...and she'll help support whoever might need that assistance all the way to the temples.

Once they're there, she keeps an eye out for anyone who might be having difficulty with the cure - either because they're too ill to keep the needle still, or because needles freak them out, or... any other reason, really. She's able-bodied, and she won't really feel satisfied until she sees as many people as possible on the road to recovery.]

They say it's a very quick process - just a small prick, and then you're done. [Is something she might say to someone who's looking unsure. It's accompanied by a soft smile.] Would you like a little help?

into the undergrowth;
[If there was ever a time to have an axe handy, it's now!

Haru's Phantom Thief garb doesn't exactly help her blend in, but it does make her feel more confident. And honestly, that's a must. This is a little different from fighting Shadows.

...not that it's going to stop her from investigating, anyway. Haru keeps her axe hefted up, the handle resting on one shoulder, and turns her attention to whatever poor sap has decided to come down here with her.]

Before we go too much further, there's something that I believe we ought to try.

fetch quests;
[Two heads are better than one, or so they say.

Sirod seems as though he's willing to pay well - and so Haru is willing to split whatever she ends up making with anyone who's willing to help her search. She's taken a few notes on the three types of materials they need to get, and now she's consulting with whoever she's roped into helping her.]

The High Prisms seem like they'd be the simplest to achieve, in theory, but if that's what everyone else is going for, then somebody is going to have to go after the others...

[Hmm.]

What do you think?

needles are scary;
[She needs to take her medicine. She knows that.

She is so ready, on so many different levels, to not be sick anymore. She has a dose of the cure in one hand; her other hand is clenched tightly out of nerves, although she has her arm stretched out. Her gaze flits across her skin as she tentatively brings the needle to it, not quite pushing in.

Where is she even supposed to stick it?]

...this... will work, right?

[Help.]

moonlight madness;
[The cure does its job. Yona is feeling great. Better than ever, even!

...so of course she's up to her neck in trouble again; old habits die hard. All she had wanted was to be able to see a dragon - maybe even pet one, or take one for a ride. But they've gotten loose from the stables, and suddenly the owner's handing her a pocket knife, and...

Someone has to get those dragons back. Why not her? She's been nothing but useless for a solid month now - she should do something to help.

So, with a determined expression on her face and the knife gripped tightly in one hand, she starts to strip down.]

I can do this...

[Haha, no she can't.]

more fetch quests, why not;
[Yona's saga of "trying to be useful" continues, as she catches wind of a shopkeeper needing help gathering materials. And so joins the ranks of those trying to get their hands on them, and some poor sap is probably along to babysit her. May god have mercy on their soul.]

...the Crystal Drops are really pretty.

[She kind of wants one for herself, actually?]

Let's go get some! ...or any of the others, they all look nice! [Her eyes are sparkling.] It'll be an adventure.

[ when Ocelot awakens after Darma's words, he can't help but feel a thrill go through him.

all of this was just like back home. and so, while a certain person remains fast asleep on Thesa Station, he was going to do what he's done best for years: play both sides, and see where it lands.

at least, it should be fun. ]

ADMINISTERING THE CURE
[ Ocelot isn't exactly what you'd call the "charitable" sort, but he's always figured that it's better to be trusted than anything else.

at least, while it's still close enough to the beginning. and so, he's doing his part, as someone who managed to avoid so many of the issues that came with this particular affliction, or the blame for something that by all rights he should've taken.

be that as it may, when you arrive to see him, a slight smirk is playing at the edge of his lips. ]

You sure about this? Or would you rather take a chance at certain death for a little while longer than risk the sting?

[ it's a joke. meant to put you at ease. isn't it? ]
THE UNDERGROWTH
[ again, Ocelot isn't what you'd call a "hero", but it's hardly like he was going to try and pass up the opportunity to gain further recognition.

it's only as he's once again traipsing through the undergrowth that he realizes he had perhaps indulged in a wave of foolishness that he'd hoped had died some twenty years ago. even more so, as a wave of utter fear that he hasn't felt in years begins to rush over him, and as he hears a rustling, and reaches for one of his revolvers, fumbling with it uncharacteristically. ]

Who's there?!

[ careful. the creature might still be near.

he'll likely regret that anyone would see him in such a state. ]

BUILD-A-BLADE (CRYSTAL DROP)
[ now, here's a problem. Ocelot had promised to do something, and even managed to find a perfect so-called "enchanted pool" with drops visible clearly at the bottom, but so far, any attempt that he's made to try and fish it out has only resulted in all the items used being turned into solid fool's gold.

it couldn't even be something that was at least worthwhile, now could it?

and so, that might explain why he's wandering the marketplace, looking for a contact to help him on this endeavor. if nothing else, it's a chance to exchange information.]

...How familiar are you with altered water?

[ he refuses to call it "magic". that is just idiotic. ]

playing doctor.
Stop moving so much.

[ While his voice is oddly calm there's an evident amount of order in his tone. Honestly when the shamans called for able-bodied individuals for help they probably should have gone for the next person and ignored Crowley entirely, but unfortunately for the person who is now in the hands of an impatient man who actively searches for some form of entertainment that's a faraway dream. ]

I'll just jam it in if you make this any more difficult.

undergrowth.
[ A cursed place—just hearing the rumor by a third party made Crowley chuckle with disbelief and mild entertainment. Tell a single tale for long enough and of course sooner or later people will foolishly believe it, but that's coming from the perspective of a pessimistic vampire whose lived for one too many centuries. ]

Honestly if we actually find anything about this beast I'm going to be shocked.

[ It's said with a grin, obviously laced with sarcasm. His expression overall seems relaxed and unrealistically pleasant, as if he's enjoying a brief walk in the park rather than a supposed graveyard for several people of Wyver. Hand resting lazily against the handle of his sword. ]

Hm... I'll let you know now, though, if you start being "possessed" or whatever I won't hesitate to kill you. I'm too old to be playing games like that.

raindrops, drop tops.
a.)

[ As much Crowley claims to hate moving he's been busy as of late going on a number of quests, from unknown beasts terrorizing citizens to fetching crystals; all of it being increasingly taxing despite never showing signs of fatigue. Though he does tuck himself closely to the shade in the journal and avoiding the large spots of light, if only because the mild irritation the sunlight brings is annoying at best and painful at its worse.

But he's not focusing much on that as much as he is their current location. ]
Wait, haven't we already been through here before? If we were any further in we would have reached a small lake or something by now.

[ And they haven't. Why? ]

Don't tell me you've gone and got us lost.

[ He's probably half to blame but like hell he's going to shift the blame on himself that easily. ]

b.)

[ And perhaps they're still looking for said body of water or not. Soon enough Crowley spots a number of tiny crystals covering a few branches above their heads and he recognizes them as the high prisms that were described to them earlier. He places a hand to his hip, shifting his weight onto one foot before he's pointing them out with his other hand. ]

Alright, start climbing.

well, maybe the shaman was one of those hopeless "love at first sight sorts".

while he was thrown off (something he'd certainly never admit), he still manages to flash a winning smile at the shaman. but as soon as he's gone, he turns to the stranger and really has to ask... ]

CONVALESCING
[ the first thing alisaie feels is bright sunlight against her closed eyes.

how long has she been asleep? when her mind first stirs it's with a heavy, leaden feeling like waking from a long and arduous dream, and she knows at once that she has been asleep for a long time. she does not know how long, and she does not know why, her thoughts feel clouded and disjointed like she is still not quite awake, like her head is full of cotton. slowly, it knits back together into something like awareness, and with it comes a surge of disordered memories, all tangled and jumbled around. she remembers blood, and pain, a heat and ache that would not abate. she remembers..

yes, she'd fallen asleep, it had been so hard to breathe. to breathe...

with a sharp, deep inhale alisaie begins to stir, her body shifting against soft sheets. she aches all over, like she's run a hundred malms, her mouth and throat are dry with a powerful thirst. her eyes feel sticky, but with effort they flutter open, and the rusty flavor of old blood clings to her tongue. but she is awake, and slowly, carefully her mind begins to pull together in some semblance of awareness. ]

[ ooc note; first wakeup encounters reserved, but feel free to visit while she's healing!! good luck keeping her in bed.. ]

WYVERNANIGANS

[ a month in bed has done her no favors. alisaie is an.. active girl, to say the least, and she is not a very good patient. suffice it to say a few extra days of rest would probably be wise, but the moment she's able to climb out of bed and move without pain she's out the door and ready to move, finally wearing her own favored clothes again. if she sees another nightdress again it will be too soon.

nevertheless, considering she was only borderline conscious upon arriving in wyver, she'll be taking the time to see the sights. all of the sights. she finds the city wonderfully chaotic in its layout, the lack of structure a comfort to her rebel heart, even if the too-hot weather leaves some things to be desired.

heat and humidity won't hold her back, though. at any given time you can find her in the west end, perusing colorful shops and enjoying the spirited music, you might even catch her dancing (whoops maybe she accidentally bumped into you), or singing (she's got a pretty nice voice, when she isn't chastising you). ah, being alive and not bleeding out of your eyeballs can sure put one in a good mood. alisaie will also be spending ample time in the east end, practicing her swordplay and general red magery, eager to get back to her training after far too long spent indoors. ]

BRING ME 20 BEAR ASSES PRISMS ETC
[ even fetch quests seem pretty awesome right about now. alisaie has decent experience handling crystals as well, so she's quick to snap up this job, for sure.

let's climb some fuggin trees.

it's definitely great exercise, and one of the perks of being ridiculously small means you're also ridiculously light, so it's quite easy for her to shimmy right up and creep along large branches in search of her sparkly prey. they're proving tricky to find, however, and she's nearly given up on this gnarled old oak when a glint of light catches her eye. ah, there!! a big fat one, just above her head. hopping up to the branch above her, alisaie grabs hold of a strong knot on the trunk, up on her tippy-toes reaching, reeeacchiinggg..

her fingers graze it, and with a pop the prism breaks free to fall the thirty some fulms down to the ground, bouncing off twigs and leaves along the way. hope you're not right beneath her.. ]

Also how easy would it be to find maps of the area/continent/world?

DOCTOR, DOCTOR, TELL ME THE NEWS
( after about a 24hr nap once the cure was released, Peter is back at it again, though at least the fact that there is finally an answer to VIOLET2710 means he's in far better spirits. while administering a cure is no fun for anyone, Peter is determined to help out as much as he can and make sure the cure gets distributed to everyone that needs it. that means he's dealing with one of the many lines of afflicted, working as fast as he can but managing at least a bit of bedside manner while he's at it. )

Don't worry, this stuff works really fast. ( he waves at a spot on a stone retaining wall he's secured as his 'office'. this altar place is not exactly the pinnacle of medical technology, but Peter has managed to bring some tools to make his job easier. antiseptic, clean needles, bandages. ) I just need your arm and we'll have you feeling better in no time.

SCIENCE TIME.
( he's rested up, recovered from quite a long stretch of pushing himself a bit too hard. what does Peter Parker choose to do in his downtime? observe an animal that can spark hysterics in an area that is supposedly cursed, of course. what else would he do? don't be silly.

he's sitting on the ground, feverishly writing — someone trying to walk past him will find his grip is surprisingly strong on their leg.
) Hey, I'd go another way. ( before there can be complaint at the restriction, Peter lets go, pushing his glasses up instead. one could very easily wonder what the hell he's going on about, but it just so happens all the insane chickenscratch in his notebook is on the creature hidden in the underbrush. )

YOU GIVE ME FEVER.
( there's something definitely going around.

Peter doesn't quite know what to make of it, really. a very pretty girl might have tried to explain something about the full moon and some particular lighting, Peter just didn't gather all the details because she happened to be standing very close and once she started rubbing his chest he was both distracted and intensely determined to go somewhere else. he's only human, he can't quite manage to not like to be touched.

his reluctance wears down, though, especially the first night of the full moon. someone has given him free food and something to drink (score!) and even Peter is feeling a little less bashful about the unabashed PDA going around. he notices a couple rounding the bases not too far from him and leans closer to someone near him.
) This place is wild, right? ( making out in public! crazy! )

SPIDER PROMPTS.
( so, it turns out, after so long in the labs? Peter was ready for any excuse to be Spider-Man for awhile. now that the cure is out and people are feeling better, there's a few excuses around to get his web-slinging in.

such as being live bait for dragons, for example. Spider-Man can be spotted flying through the trees like Tarzan with a dragon not far behind, snarling at a meal that is going a little too fast for its liking. and if he spots someone that might need a save, expect no warning except maybe a "Head's up!" before a very sudden and high velocity rescue.

there's some less dangerous things for Spider-Man to get up to, thankfully. any characters trying to collect high prisms might find him already in a tree, plucking the gems from the branches. or they might be inclined to accept the offering of a boost. those webshooters seem safe, right?
)

[ he shakes his head, gun still shaking in his hand. ]

We're never alone.

[ if he were thinking more clearly, he might say that sounds a little cryptic. but, after all, his father was a medium. and he's sure he can see something out of the corner of his eye.

but he needs to calm down. he needs to...

(but seriously, how is he going to talk his way out of this when he's thinking clearly again? well. if nothing else, it's a challenge.) ]
