WYVER

JOB #1 — DEATH FROM ABOVE

Legends tell of a vile man named Grindle who worked terrible magic in hopes of catching a rare specimen of Dreadmawk — one that has lived for decades in the southern coastline and grew to the size of an elephant. Grindle had spent months luring countless young children to their untimely ends in hopes of baiting the carnivorous giant Dreadmawk. Grindle's misdeeds have reached Wyver and search parties are offering a high bounty for Grindle alive for prosecuting. Aranea is putting together a team of people to find this criminal — call it personal interest.

When you take this job, you will be informed his last seen location was in a small coastal town near Edrathe Tower. Speaking with the residents, they discuss seeing flashing lights at Edrathe Tower for 4 nights in a row.

Upon investigating, you will find ancient runes lining the cliffside. You can hear the crackling of fire, but no such source. Odd, isn't it?

If someone who has killed before touches the rune, a magic cloak peels away at the cliffside to reveal a cavern where Grindle is sleeping. The group may surprise him and render him without a fight.

If someone who is pure touches the rune, nothing happens and instead the group will find nothing until they are preparing to return to shore. They will find Grindle leaving the cloaked entrance to fish for dinner. This results in a fight with fire spells.

In either scenario, he will plead for his life and offer this knowledge: one of the children (Nasshi) should be still alive west of Dragon Cove. He is filled with no remorse. Characters can kill or return him to Wyver.

OUTCOMES:
- KILLING GRINDLE — By killing Grindle you will not have further information on how to fight off the Dreadmawk in Part 2 of this quest, making it more likely your characters will walk away with injuries. You will only receive 300 Silver for proof of his death by the Wyver authorities.
- SPARE GRINDLE — Grindle will offer an ancient trinket — an orb which emits a painfully loud screech only wildlife can hear. It stuns creatures and in theory, works for the Dreadmawk if it dives low enough from its position in the sky. You receive 900 Silver for his return to Wyver.

JOB #2 — DEATH FROM ABOVE PT. 2

Whether you completed From Above or not, word spreads quickly of search parties to find the missing child Nasshi that is believed to be still alive in Dragon Cove. There is a 1,000 Silver reward for anyone who can find the girl.

Once you and your party arrive at the southwest section of Dragon's Cove, you'll find nothing out of the ordinary. Near sunset, you'll find a small brick house worn with age and seasalt. Upon inspection, you'll find this was Grindle's home — filled with miscellaneous potions, crude drawings of the giant Dreadmawk and a diary speaking of a giant pillar west.

When venturing, you find a large pillar (around 3 stories tall) erupted from the sandy shore. Tied to the top of it is a hungry, sobbing child the age of 10. She has stayed quiet for days in fear of the "flying shadow". Her sobs seemingly have garnered the attention of the giant Dreadmawk.

Your party will need to focus on climbing the stone pillar to save the child and fighting off the Dreadmawk.

OUTCOMES:
- SUCCESS will occur if your characters are able to do long-range damage, lure the Dreadmawk towards the ground for melee attacks, save the child by climbing the pillar or using the ancient trinket from Grindle to incapacitate the Dreadmawk.
- FAILURE will occur if your characters are unarmed, do not have the trinket and fail to climb the pillar in time.
- RETURN TO WYVER with the child and your party receives the promised reward. Return without and your efforts will yield nothing.

OLYMPIA

JOB #3 — HUNTING FOR ROTSPORE

In Olympia, there seems to be a few posters around the market district requesting a bit of fetching. Johann Faust, humbly requests a plethora of rotspore blooms in Murkewell Hallow. Aranea offers you a discount with travel gear, as it may be a day's trek to find it. The only issue remains a tight time period: 12 hours of blooming at a specific time.

The path leading into the suspected area grows weaker the longer you go inward — soon, you find the path is non-existent and pushing through savage brush and thickets.

With the hours ticking down, you find the clearing in the Hallow where the rotspores are abundant. There's only one issue: a vileling. They are ferocious and seem to be resting, deep growls from their slumbering state give off a foreboding feeling. Upon closer inspection, the rotspores are blooming.... from seemingly dead travelers. You may collect one supply backpack, a potion for healing, and a rolled up poster for the same job off the bodies. It seems they came before you — interesting!

If you take more than 4 samples, the vileling will sense your presence and attack. If you take only 3 or less, you have enough time to sneak away.

OUTCOMES:
- If you return to Johann, you will find out this is actually an alias for Mephisto ([personal profile] meinwaifu). You will gain 500 silver.
- If you are injured, the bloom will fade away due to your slow pace. Returning to Johann yields you nothing.

NON-AFFILIATED

JOB #4 — DIRTY JOBS

There have been help wanted ads posted all week from Highwind Hires for the recruitment of "adult fighting, 18+, prudes need not apply" type services. They're vague, but offer 100 Silver for reporting to the South Outpost tonight for a performance.

Upon arriving, it seems Byerly has put out a contract looking for participants in sexy gladiator fighting for an audience. This performance allows drama, action, and a bit of flirtations — so characters definitely need to act the part. Pits of oil and sexy props are optional!

Remember: characters who participate not only get paid, but there are benefits for winning and being a fan favorite... So go act your heart out and fight!

OUTCOMES:
- If your character uses props and is quite entertaining, they will be voted Best Gladiator (by crowd applause) for an additional 100 Silver and a cool little trophy.
- If your character flops and loses their battles, they won't get much of anything. On the way out, they will be offered acting and fighting lessons from a few local Olympia guards. This could turn out bad if you react in offense...
- Your character can fight in a total of 2 matches, which at most would be 200 Silver

Have fun! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me! These are all loosely based on your choices, so feel free to go wild with them. The outcomes only are indication of what the jobs would offer. If you're interested in having your character offer a job in the future, please let me know!

Sorry for the delay, I had some health issues the second part of January! Thank you to our players for submitting quests for this month!
