[ Scorch, as was his name now, didn't seem to mind Daifuku's playfulness. Soon enough the giraffe appeared to relax a bit more. Daifuku's paw was a nice weight across his body, and Scorch soon lay his head upon the tiger cub's, napping.

What a cute scene it made.

At the table, Reign took particular interest in the mochi that Atsushi took out, those round-looking desserts catching his attention. ]

Mn, there really isn't a particular reason for these eggs, I presume. And it appears as if these eggs are given randomly to people.

[ He smiled as he glanced towards to the creatures. ] They do provide good companionship. [ Glancing back at the spread of food on the table, he pointed at the mochis. ] Are these all made of the same filling?

["It's all random" is never a very satisfying answer - if it even counts as an answer - but in this case, it's likely all there is to it. Atsushi figures it's just hard for him to accept that sometimes good things happen for no reason... and that's just another reason to try accepting it. He can't let his past keep coloring his present.]

Oh! Yes, I just took what I had lying around... They're all sweet bean paste.

Actually... I was wondering if you'd like -... [This may just be the most awkward conversation he's had to date.] That is: s-since you drink blood, I was wondering if adding blood to food would make it tastier for you?

[ Reign himself had learn to be thankful for what he got. It was already lucky of him not to be killed by his clan when he came out as an "abnormal", much less freely able to open up a business creating and selling perfumes. Perhaps he should teach Atsushi to learn how to relax more, though his methods likely would turn more towards the carnal.

He perked up as Atsushi describe the mochi's filling, having never heard or even tasted one before.

Then the suggestion came and Reign had to pause and register what Atsushi just said. ]

Oh... Urm... Well, it's never been tried before. I don't know if it'll make it tastier. But are you all right with making such a recipe? I don't want to be held responsible if you, or anyone else, accidentally consumed one infused with blood. [ His tone was teasing at the last part, though nonetheless posed a serious issue to consider. In all honesty, Reign was surprised that Atsushi offered such an idea, grateful for his friend's thoughtfulness. ]

[Atsushi could use many lessons on both those fronts... but would he be open to them? That was the question. He'd fooled around a little bit, largely aphro-influenced, but it was still new to him, and a little unsure.]

I wouldn't! I'd make them as a separate batch, and mark them clearly... I'd keep them away from other food, too.

[Yes, he... might have spent a little time thinking about this already.]

I don't know if it will taste good to you, but... if it might, I at least want to try. Everybody deserves to have food they truly like from time to time.

[He dealt with raw meat for Daifuku all the time. Would this really be so different? ... Well, there was the fact that he'd have to bleed, but even that was hardly an excuse anymore.]

Actually, it seems like I can heal minor cuts now, so. Providing a little blood wouldn't be a problem.

[ If Atsushi was ever up to it, or should such a situation arise when Reign was with him, he definitely wouldn't mind "helping" the other relax, so to speak.

Either way, he was really touched by Atsushi's thoughtfulness and consideration. No one had ever deemed to think so much for him, and not just for the sake of pleasing or buttering him up. If he were alone in his room, Reign would have shed a tear or two, overwhelmed by his friend's kindness. ]

Thanks, Atsushi. It means a lot to me that you'll go through such lengths. Of course, I can just survive on blood alone, but being able to taste other kind of food sounds wonderful.

[ That news was a bit of a surprise to Reign, his eyes widening. Not the fact that Atsushi would have to bleed to provide the blood, but that he had healing abilities. ]

That's the first time I'm hearing this. But what do you mean by "now"? You don't have such skills before?

It's no trouble at all! Really, it's the least I can do for a friend.

I still don't know if it will be tasty, though.

[He'll definitely try to make some! But he doesn't want to raise Reign's expectations beyond what he can deliver.]

I definitely couldn't heal anyone, before. That is: sometimes I healed myself, but not at will, and even that had its limits... [Cutting off a leg, though? Totally fine. Some limits!] That is tied to my ability, somehow...

But now I can heal anyone! Not completely - not if it's serious - but... given that I couldn't heal at all, before, I think I can't complain.

If that's the case, I don't mind if you give the recipe a try, and I'll taste test it for you.

[ It was worth attempting than not at all. Reign wouldn't want to put too much pressure on Atsushi either, so even if it didn't turn out well, he wouldn't blame Atsushi. ]

Wow, that's really quite some skill. Has it somehow manifested from your original ability? Did something happen before this?

All right! I'll try different amounts of blood, just to see what works best.

[Both for consistency and flavor. More is probably better, but it's worth making sure of that before jumping to conclusions.]

I don't know that anything happened... It's just that, one day, I found out I could do it?

It's a little strange, but at least it's a good thing.

[ Reign didn't mind being Atsushi's guinea pig. A funny situation if they were to look back on this one day, Reign being willing to be Atsushi's little experiment. However, if all worked well, maybe they could share it without other vampire-like beings similar to Reign. ]

Maybe it's something to do with this new world that allowed you to manifest this ability. That's amazing, Atsushi! It's definitely a good thing!
