[Bellamy has never signed up for one of these jobs before. Truth be told, he's never wanted to get too involved with anyone powerful in this place, largely because he's learned that's an easy way to get caught up in something you don't want to get caught up in. But Voss seems willing to help the people who are getting caught in the crossfire, which coincidentally is also the easiest way to get Bellamy involved in anything dangerous. So here he is, off to help round up refugees with a kid who seems to be about Octavia's age.]

So you just got here and you're already jumping into trouble?

[ look, percy hadn't been looking to get involved with the city politics or this temple of thesa.

(personally, he thinks this city could benefit from a temple of poseidon -- kidding, kidding.)

he's still trying to find his bearings here, figure out how to build his life from the ground up. it's eerily reminiscent of the time hera wiped his memory and plopped him down on the other side of the country. except -- this time, he remembers everything, and this time, he really is alone. it's not about finding annabeth or grover or tyson or his mom or even his way home. he knows where all his friends and family are. and, apparently, there is no going home.

he doesn't entirely believe that, but he's not going find out more about it by refusing to do anything here. and, anyway, hearing about people picking on and hurting others just for leaving this place was enough to get his blood boiling. he doesn't care about this voss guy, but this situation? isn't okay. he can't just stand by and do nothing just because olympia isn't his home. ]

Okay, first of all: rude. [ percy points out, eyebrows raised. ] Second of all, what Olympians are doing to those people is messed up. I'm guessing you agree.

[ or bellamy, yk, wouldn't be here. ]

[It wasn't exactly meant to be rude, but realistically, Bellamy always sounds a little rude, so his lips just twitch upward minutely.]

Yeah, I do.

[And the worst part is that he joined the Olympian guard a few weeks ago, figuring it would be a way to help keep the other refugees safe. He's thinking that was a stupid decision now.]

This is new. They've never attacked us outright like this.

[ percy raises his eyebrows, taking that in. ]

So before, what, they just lowkey attacked us?

No. Neither of the cities have attacked us before. They haven't always seemed excited to have us around.

[ there's a thought that occurs to percy, and he frowns. ]

Whose idea was it to send us here anyway? The locals, or our friends upstairs? Because if no one checked with them, and a bunch of strangers started showing up...

[ well, he can at least begin to understand why they seem to be so salty ]
