A hero lives forever for the ones that carry on
Who: Justice (
whatisright) & Jon Snow (
song_of_ice)
What: Safe Haven quest; Justice and Jon are off being heroes.
When: February
Where: Olympia
Warning(s): Probably some violence
Justice has no patience for wanton cruelty and violence. He would have stepped in to assist the innocents abused here with or without Voss's approval, the the assistance of the crystals are welcomed, as is the assistance of the human called Snow.
"That one." He gestures to Jon before pointing out a nasty looking character. The street has been riddled with violence already, and the displaced civilians are shuffling through as quickly as possible to get to the temple. But Olympians with violent thoughts are closing in, edging on the borders of the street, and Justice clutches his crystal in one hand and his sword's hilt in the other. "That one is the most likely to strike first. His rage stains the ground he walks on."

His eyes followed where Justice pointed, seeing the looming man with clear anger on his face. His fists were already clenched, searching for a target to lash out at, one weaker and smaller than him, which wasn't difficult to find.
Jon's hand enclosed around his sword hilt, bracing himself for a fight. "He hasn't hurt anyone yet. I don't want to have to fight if there is a chance of talking him down." Which was unlikely, he knew this. It was only a matter of moments before he would find someone and deal the first blow. Already he seemed locked on a small group containing a woman and her two sons. "There. We need to help them."

But Snow deserves a chance to try, and is significantly better equipped to speak to humans than Justice is. "If it is your intention to attempt to talk him down, then do so. I will try to get the innocents out of the way."
Justice makes a beeline to the woman and her sons, positioning himself between the aggressive man and the group, gesturing for the woman and children to hurry along. He's not entirely convinced that the man won't attack him instead.

He called out a greeting to the man, but before he could get two words out, the man reared back and threw a punch at Jon. There were taunts thrown at him, "outsider", "spy" and whatever else. Reason and humanity had disappeared, leaving instead that primordial beast that all men possessed deep down.
Jon ducked away from the next blow, nearly stumbling back in an effort to reach Justice. He grabbed the pommel of his sword, drawing it in threat, but it did nothing to stop the growing hostilities. "We need to get them out of here. Fall back."

He keeps an eye on Jon, but Jon is the one he is least worried about in this chaos. At least Jon has a sword.
"More northward," Justice warns just as one man lunges into the crowd. The refugees fall back like a wave, but Justice intervenes before they can be driven back towards Jon, hitting the attacker in the gut with his sword's pommel.

Jon ducks away, losing his hold on his sword pommel as he avoids getting hit. He weaves out of the way when the man tries again, bringing up his knee instead, striking him in the chest.
There were more starting to get riled up. The longer they stayed, the more men they would have to fight, some of them bearing weapons, poised and ready to lash out. Jon took a few steps back, trying to usher the refugees away. "We might need to run."
no subject
"How much further to the temple?" At the temple, they could depend on Olympia's own forces to help them, but until then, they are spread too thin to be relied on. Perhaps one could guide the refugees while the other tries to hold off anyone who picks innocents off the edges of the group.

"You can see it just down this road!" It was a larger structure that made the other businesses and homes dwarf in comparison. The refugees recognized it and ran ahead of them as Jon brought up the rear. "Go on ahead! Make sure the way is clear for them!"

The temple has only a couple guards, with how thin the guard is spread in this unstable time, but they're discouraging any attackers from getting too close to the Temple. Unfortunately, there are still some people that are positively radiating violent intent, preparing to get between the refugees and the Temple.
Justice doesn't waste time. He picks the biggest one and slams his pommel into his gut. He doubles over with a grunt, and that makes the other attackers hesitate, staying on the edge of the road, but then the big one makes a grab for Justice. One meaty hand gets his arm, but Justice has drawn his sword and the other meaty hand accidentally closes on the blade. The man recoils again, yowling and holding his bleeding hand.

As they near the temple, the mob that followed them seemed to slow, hesitating to get any nearer. The guard might be thin, but it was enough of a deterrent to keep others from attacking or storming in. These were men they knew, natives. Attacking an outsider was one matter, but these were men they had grown up beside. They knew what sort of warriors they were.
Jon's head whipped around at the sound of pain. He could see a man with a bleeding hand and another on the ground. "How many do we have to get through?" His eyes remained locked on their pursuers, uncertain whether they would take the risk and charge forward. "Can you manage them?"
no subject
They need more than two men, is what they need. There are too many of them, and Justice can't in good conscience pull Snow away from the back of the group while there still are pursuers that may try to pick off the weakest and slowest refugees.
"Stay where you are!" Justice says instead. "I will do what I can. They will get through."
And then one more person dares to lunge for Justice. Justice counts himself lucky that the man doesn't go for the refugees, and he kicks the man in the gut.

He struck out at them, swinging Longclaw in their direction, a threat for them to keep back. They were yelling, both at him and for their friends to follow. Soon their numbers would increase, overwhelming Justice and Jon from the front and the back.
"Clear a path as quick as you can!" He called back at him, kneeing one of the men who tried to charge at them. "We need to move soon! More are coming."
no subject
He grimaces as he draws his sword and holds up his shield. He stays in the front of the group, and the first one that goes for a refugee gets a sword to the side. Justice doesn't have time to check if he's killed the man, because another attacker is upon him, and that one has his face destroyed by a slam of the shield.
Justice depends on the intimidation factor of his full armor and weapons and blood on the ground to ward off most of the people who would try attacking, but that doesn't stop some, and he stays determinedly at the head of the group swinging his sword and downing anyone who tries to attack the refugees.
"How is the back?" he calls.
no subject
Jon braced himself, gripping his sword as they charged at him. Four to one, they were odds he didn't like, but it was nothing like what Justice seemed to be facing. He continued to use the pommel of Longclaw and the flat of his blade as long as he could, but as it seemed the men were quick to get back to their feet, he had to follow Justice's example.
"There are more running towards us." Angered clearly by the injuries of their friends. An attack on a native was an attack on them. "Are we any closer?"

The refugees are running now, sprinting for the Temple gates opening up for them. Justice weaves in the crowd, cutting down anyone who tries to peel a refugee from the group, listening as hard as he can for the next place he needs to be.
"Keep them off the back!" As more refugees get through the gate, more locals descend on Justice. One catches him in the side with a bat. His armor protects him from most of the force, but it still hurts. Luckily, the increased attention on Justice means less attention on the refugees.

Blood sprayed across the ground and his face, the smell less sickly and closer to familiarity. This was his life, even if he didn't like it or was tired of fighting. It was what he was good at and it was where he excelled.
Finally, the last of the refugees had made it into the temple, the doors slowly beginning to close. "Go after them! Fall back into the temple!" They could at least rest in there and let the crowd disperse.

A bat almost catches Justice on the head, but he ducks at the last minute and it just bashes his shoulder. Pain explodes outwards, but he has no time to pay attention to that. Instead, he just slashes out his sword, catching the men trying to close in on him and giving himself room to run for the Temple.
"Hurry! Before it closes!" He doesn't intend to go inside without the brave human who's fought by his side.

There's the swipe of a hand, someone grabbing at his tunic, but the fabric rips under their hold. He stumbles though, enough that he can feel his ankle twist painfully. It's ignored in the moment. Jon refused to let an injury slow him.
One last push and he's through the door, nearly collapsing to his knees as he struggled to catch his breath. "Are you all right?"
no subject
"Bruised, I expect, but I shall heal."
He opens his eyes again to look at Snow, frowning at him. Justice saw him stumble as they were running in, and he hopes that's the worst Snow suffered. "Are you injured?"
