Who: Venom (
poolhall_killer) & Miles Edgeworth (
milesedgelord)
What: A quest log! Two people from opposite ends of the law team up to bring people to the temple's safety.
When: Mid-February
Where: Area around Thesa's temples
Warning(s): people getting punched
[Shortly after Venom became the Guild leader, he was faced with a destructive fire that threatened several people. He was hesitant because he felt he had nothing to do with it. Millia had to snap him out of it and roped him in to help.
These days he's not even hesitating to volunteer to help others. He receives his instructions and crystals, but as he's leaving, he begins to reflect a bit. Part of him wonders if Millia would be proud of him, as he tried turning the Guild around to save it. Then he all but handed it over to her and Lord Zato once more. He's about to lose himself in thought when he sees a familiar face. Flagging him down, he approaches the prosecutor, whom he almost got to know as intimately as Phoenix. It's complicated, but he's learning to trust the older man more as a friend. More importantly, as a role model.]
Miles. May I ask you something?

Miles. May I ask you something?

Because of this, he was dressed much more casually than usual, in a fitted black t-shirt, a pair of red pants and some sensible leather boots. No need to ruin his suit further than it already had been in his past few excursions.
He was near the temples, when he saw a familiar figure, he slowed his run to a light jog. Miles felt a little bit of shame regarding Venom as if he had violated some unwritten rule of the mentor-mentee relationship he had initially wished to cultivate around him by making out with him, but he knew the man was a sweet one and saw him as a friend regardless. Feelings were complicated things and it was best to put them aside for the most part.]
Good afternoon Venom. I trust you have kept well since our last meeting.
Certainly, how can I help you?
no subject
[Save for feeling all disloyal and horrible for kissing all these men in a short period of time. He needs to get his mind off everything and work on his goals.]
The temples are offering sanctuary to those who are fleeing. I volunteered to help, but I might need assistance. Would you like to accompany me in escorting people to safety?
[His leader mode is coming out as he stands straight, like he's addressing an associate and not a friend.]
no subject
[That was certainly a shift from the usual, but not one he minded. Business then. Miles stood straighter as well, mimicking Venom's body language.]
Of course, I'll assist. Please tell me what I can do in that case. I feel so horrible for those poor souls who are trapped between countries.

These crystals are apparently imbued with magic. The longer we hold them, the more they will adjust to us. The one I hold will hopefully enhance my magic abilities while yours will give us an edge with sound.
If you need time to prepare, I can wait here.
no subject
[There was a part of him that had a hard time believing that magic existed in the first place, nonetheless used as a practical tool. He took the blue crystal in his hands, thoughtfully.]
I think I have everything I need. I cannot imagine what I would need to prepare for.
Let go ahead and help those people.
no subject
That should hold for now. I believe the magic will come to you soon, but unfortunately I don't know when.
[His own seems to be activating as it's noticeably warmer, but still.]
Let's go. The people here said there's a small group that's been trying to reach them without success. They should be just north of here.
no subject
Thank you. Lets set off in that case. If they lost contact with the group then there is a chance they might be in need of supplies asap. It would be best if we hurried.
[Miles would follow Venom's lead in this, the man knew seemed to know what he was doing after all.]
no subject
[Venom has his small first aid kit along with a few other supplies. Hopefully it'll be enough in case of injuries.
He leads Miles to the outskirts, where a couple of bandits are harassing a small group of people. Venom's own crystal begins to warm against his skin as he assesses the situation.]
They were closer than I expected. Miles, can you fight by any chance?
no subject
I can throw some punches and know some basic self-defense maneuvers but that really is the long and the short of it, I'm afraid.
[The stone heated up further. The bandits were demanding money from the townspeople. He slipped his glasses off and tucked them away in his bag. It would be bad if they were ruined in the scuffle.]
Should we engage?
no subject
[He leads Miles to some thick brush, giving them a good view of the bandits. The former assassin pulls out his cue and readies his shot. As he's forming a large ball of crackling energy on the tip, his own crystal starts to warm.
He shoots the ball, striking one of the bandits. What he doesn't expect is the two smaller balls splintering off and hitting other bandits. After a quick gasp of shock, Venom composes himself.]
That... was unintended. But I think it's best to engage them fully, now.
no subject
Holy hell That was cool! The move was as good as any of the special effects in The Steel Samurai. In the back of his mind somewhere that 10-year boy in there was super excited to see it.]
That was impressive!
[Now?! Okay now. The bandits had certainly had thier attention on them. But the crystal around his neck felt incredibly hot and all he could hear was the pounding of footsteps.]
Behind you!
no subject
Th-thank you.
[But back to the fight at hand. There's no time for taking in compliments when there are bad guys that need punching.
Venom blinks at the outburst and checks behind him. A thug's about to attack but the ex-assassin manages to counter before his assailant can strike.]
And thank you once more. I didn't even sense him nearby.
[He engages another and smacks them with his cue, making sure to protect his friend and the travelers.]
no subject
You're welcome.
[He wanted to take the chance that Venom's fighting offered him to try and find an opening for him to lead the travelers to safety. The best thing to do was to make sure that the bandits felt that they were too much trouble to pursue.]
I'm going to take them uphill. It should give us the advantage in fighting.
no subject
[Miles said he could fight, but Venom can't help worrying regardless. But he nods and readies his cue again, summoning more balls.
He uses a close by one to smack a thug in the face.]
Be safe, my friend. I'll cover you.
no subject
[He took off urging the travelers to head uphill away from the fighting. If he could get them away from the core of the fighting he could focus on defending them instead.
One of the bandits was beginning to gain on them and lunged for an attack, instinctively he ducked down and landed a firm uppercut to his jaw, knocking him back and down the hill. He almost couldn't believe he did that.]
no subject
Just a few more-!
[One managed to catch the assassin off-guard as he attempts to stab him from behind. It only grazes his back as Venom counters with an elbow to the assailant's gut. He twirls his cue and strikes again, knocking the other out. Ugh, what an amateur.
He ignores any kind of injury he sustained as he goes after Miles, keeping his eye out for other possible surprises.]
no subject
Are you okay?!
[He called out to him as watched Venom bounding up towards him. Suddenly the crystal was burning hot and all he could see was small lines moving down from above along the trees.]
One above!
no subject
[Before Venom can ask anything else, a bandit hops down from the trees, rushing him. But thanks to the warning, Venom manages to strike first, knocking them out quickly. It left about two bandits, but it's clear they were hesitant to engage Venom in combat.]
I suggest you leave these people alone. They've done nothing to you.
[He starts on another charged ball, hoping it would do the split thing like before. But instead of heeding his warning, one of the assailants runs towards him. He shoots off his projectile, and it only hits one without the splinter. A light curse escapes Venom's lips as he goes into battle, because the other is coming up from the side.]
Get them to the sanctuary! Now!
no subject
[He ushered the terrified travelers as the younger man engaged the bandits. He held up the rear of the line in case any of them fell behind.
His heart was pumping hard, his adrenaline rushing. But he spoke with a calm voice.]
Good. Keep going forward. The sanctuary is just up ahead.
[This would be a good time to utilize the crystal in case there were any surprises but it lay against his chest, cold. He turned his head towards the fight,
to make certain that he didn't need help, though he was more than sure that Venom could hold his own better than he.]
no subject
Unfortunately for them, Venom's used to that attitude. His will is second to none, and he's not going to let these bandits stop him. One manages to grab him from behind, but he uses that to strike the approaching opponent with his feet. He breaks free, but not without getting cut on his leg. And with a flick of his wrist, he summons a ball and reinforces his punches, knocking them both cold.
That should be all of them... Venom scans the area before catching up to Miles and the group. He's clearly banged up, but alive.]
They won't be bothering you for a very long time, I believe.
no subject
You're injured. As soon as we're inside I want to check your wounds. I would hate for them to get infected.
[He rewarded him with a small smile as well.]
I feel like I owe you my thanks. You did amazing out there, friend.
no subject
[It's nothing he hasn't endured before. Besides, he feels he can work on his own wounds. It'll be good practice. Even though his friend's smile softens him up a little.]
You did a good job out there, too. I couldn't have done that alone.
[The last of the group reaches the sanctuary, and Venom lets himself have a sigh of relief.]
I feel some tea and a hot bath are in order after this. Care to join me? At least for the tea part?
no subject
[Both of those things sounded so very tempting. He was worried that between his morning run and the whole adventure he went on, he was perspiring quite a bit.]
That actually sounds wonderful, however, if we go for tea I would at least need to change out of my shirt. I worry I'm not quite presentable at the moment.
[Miles was certainly the type of person who really fretted about how he seemed in public.]
no subject
But first, let me speak to the sanctuary heads and return our crystals.
[Venom removes his from his neck.]
Meet me at the dragon cafe?
no subject
[He reached around his neck and pulled the crystal over his neck and handed it to his friend.]
Thank you.
Yes, that sounds perfect. I'll meet you there in half an hour.
[And with that he headed off.]
