A Day in the Life (Take Two): So who forgot to invite a rogue to this party?
Olivier kept an eye out, while the other two were checking out the windows on the first floor, watching in case any of the hire guards decided to inspect the grounds. "What are the odds this guy is stupid enough to leave his windows unlocked?"
uh, Nobody, duh. (pun intended)
As he and the mustached man (Dorian, he believes the name was) peer through the ground-level windows, Axel glances over his shoulder to address the intimidating blond woman.
"Locks aren't really a problem," he says, waving a hand. "I can get inside and unlock them for you guys if none of them are open, we just need to find a room that's secluded enough to do so without getting seen in the process." He rubs his chin. "I could probably reach the second floor, for that matter, but without being able to see inside first, I'm not sure that's a better idea..." He glances at Dorian then, frowning a little. "Whaddaya think?"
a million years later...
Must the same could be said both for her companion and the crystals they'd been handed. She was loathed to use something so ridiculous as magic in the first place (there's no such thing as magic, it's just unexplained science), and that girl... Mantis? Better not judge a book by its cover.
As they made their way along the path where they were supposed to meet their party, Olivier had to ask, "Are you sure you're going to be up to this if things go bad?"
no subject
... That's probably an uncharitable thought.
She stops walking for the span of two or three steps when Olivier speaks, then hurries to catch up. "Yes, of course." A beat. "I hope. It depends."
