[open-ish] pain is supposed to heal with time
Who: Reign Fear (
eaudevamp) & Friends/Anyone
What: Hostage/rescue aftermath
When: 24th onwards
Where: His home, the Institute, Thesa Station, Shades Darker
Warning(s): Sad vampire, mentions of death, self-inflicted pain/BDSM, possible smut?
[ It had been a few days since the hostages were rescued, but Reign didn't feel like he'd achieved much despite managing to save them with the help of other rescuers. It was a combined effort that should have been a success, but the group Reign was in didn't quite manage so. They had guessed the wrong location, and thus lost precious time to find the correct place. But that was done now, and the extremists either escaped or were killed/apprehended, Reign didn't care.
No, he truly did care, but he found it hard to actually do so when some of his friends had ended up as hostages. That, he could deal with, but not death. It was a strange and unfamiliar situation for him to face, and thus it hit him harder than he expected.
For the next few days, Reign lived his life almost like a literally zombie, looking like an undead (though he really wasn't). He mostly shut himself up in his home, spending a bit of time with his pet giraffe, Scorch, or dabbling in his perfume research and creation in an attempt to get his mind off the pain eating into him. Sometimes he replied to messages sent to him, other times they went ignored. And yet life still must go on, so Reign returned to the Institute to work, sometimes stopping by to look into a particular office in the hopes of seeing a certain demon. But it wasn't enough.
So when travelling up to Thesa Station was finally available, Reign headed straight for the pods, standing or sitting in front of one pod containing a blond man. Anyone who noticed would either see him crying, whether silently or wailing his heart out, or mumbling and telling his friend about the events that had occurred. However, the pain didn't lessen, and so at night, Reign would go to Shades Darker for a special event, a night meant for patrons to partake in some BDSM play in one of the backrooms decorated in a dungeon setting. He allowed himself to be blindfolded, his wrists bounded to chains hanging from the ceiling, shirtless and displaying strips of red welts from an earlier session. At least this kind of pain would numb him, even if only for a while. Who's next? ]

It's not fair...it isn't! You're just like the others! You just ignore me until it's convenient for you to give me attention! What's so important that you ignore me outright?! What's the point of you being my bridegroom? What's the point of anything?!

He realised how selfish he had been, pushing those who cared about him away, causing them pain as well. Being careful and a bit hesitant, Reign pulled Diva into a loose hug, one arm around her shoulder, free hand on the back of her head. ]
I'm really sorry, Diva. Things happened recently. [ A pause, as he took in a deep breath, before giving her his reason. He wouldn't ask for her understanding, but Diva should at least know why. ] Someone I care about died.
no subject
If that's the case...you're sad. I can understand that you're sad...but what about those who you care about who aren't dead? The dead can't come back. Shouldn't you pay more attention to the living instead?

His grip tightened a bit around Diva, doing his best to hold his tears back as he nodded against the top of Diva's head. ]
You're right, you're absolutely right. I was wallowing so much in my own grief that I neglected my friends.
[ He pulled back, his smile watery. ] Would you forgive me, Your Majesty? Allow me to make it up to you.
no subject
I'll forgive you, Reign.
no subject
Thank you, my Queen, and I'm sorry again for having ignored you. It won't happen again.
[ He took Diva's hand and led them to the table to sit, pushing the book of flowers towards her. ]
Why don't you point out the flower you like, see if I can find them in Olympia. [ Or at least purchase its scented oil. If anything, then there was Wyver, though Reign will have to figure out how to cross the border without too much scrutiny. ]

These are my favourite. I had a dress with blue roses once.
no subject
I think we've something like this before, more white than blue, in the South. Well, in my old world. But I'm sure there are some here. All right, I can make a perfume out of these blue roses. Hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to find.
[ Perhaps there would be some in Wyver, which had more floras than Olympia. ]
no subject
[She'll offer up as a comment, the pads of her fingers ghosting over the illustrations on the page before them both.]
If you can't make them from blue roses, just a normal rose would do. A rose smells like a rose, after all. The color doesn't make a difference.
no subject
[ Which was why Reign found the Nysa planet so fascinating. His lips quirked at Diva's words, and he couldn't help quoting from a book he'd read before. ]
"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet", isn't it? If I can't find a blue rose, then at least the perfume colour would be blue. Would that do?
no subject
[Not after having lived both in Asia and Europe.]
I think that would be acceptable.

[ Reign wondered how was Diva's world like. Was it similar in certain ways.
He smiled, reaching out to pat Diva's hand. ]
I'm glad to hear that. Now then, is there anything else you want to do?
[ Right at this moment, Scorch made his appearance known again, having been ignored earlier. He wanted to greet this new stranger. So of course the tiny giraffe trotted over, moo-ing at Diva. ]
Ah, someone wants to say "hi".
no subject
Why is the giraffe so small?
no subject
I'm not certain myself. I woke up one day with an egg the size of a melon by my bed, and after about ten days or so, Scorch hatched from it.
I believe a few people who have gotten similar eggs have animals about this kind of size. A friend of mine also has a tiger cub, and he's forever a small size.
[ Probably a good thing too because otherwise, a normal-sized Daifuku would be a hassle. ]
no subject
[They're not birds or lizards and so it's a lot for her to process and try to wrap her head around.]
It's cute though.
no subject
[ As for Scorch, he came close enough to butt his head gently against Diva's leg, seeking attention from her. Maybe a light pat of some scratching? Yes yes? ]
He is, isn't he?
[ Reign was one proud
egg mumdad! ]
