[ No matter how persistent they might be, 76 imagines that some people will be squeamish enough to refuse. Not that it matters, enough of them are here (judging by the line) that they should hopefully have a good supply of blood once all is said and done. They give up on Ann's vein almost immediately, then start going on about wounds and gushing and then there's the gleaming blade of a scalpel.
76 can't really blame Ann for her reaction. What the hell are they doing? He's out of his seat instantly, placing himself between the volunteer and Ann. ]
If you can't get to her vein without slicing her arm open, I think you're better off letting this one go.
