Who: Ann Takamaki & Soldier: 76
What: mini event plotting β especially with more medical freakouts.
When: ^
Where: the blood bank.
Warning(s): blood, maybe?
[ She may not be a soldier, but Ann has a heart on her to want to help and do good. She waited in line like everyone else, nervously wondering how long it would take to be seen. And... uh, of course, if it would hurt. She saw a few familiar faces since the initial drop, but it wasn't until her name was finally called that she saw someone she actually talked to. She was ushered into the small medical room with 4 chairs for donators to be helped. 76 was in one of these chairs. ]
Hey. Should have uh β figured someone like you would be here.
[ She says meekly, getting comfortable as the apparent worker was prepping the needle and vials for withdrawal. Ann doesn't say much, from her experience, he doesn't seem like the most friendly of people... so...
Instead, she opts to nervously tap her fingers against the armrest, looking around curiously and far more anxious than she'd like to admit. ]

Back when he'd been in the midst of the SEP, daily blood draws had been a way of life. They had to make sure they didn't accidentally kill their volunteers, after all. And ever since the enhancements took root in his body, his accelerated healing makes him a perfect blood donor.
(Given that he's aware of at least one vampire among their number, it also seems like a worthwhile endeavor.)
They finally get moved into a room where they'll have their blood drawn, shuffled around in small groups for the sake of efficiency. 76 glances over when he hears a familiar voice; it's the girl from the crash. Ann, right? ]
What's that supposed to mean?
[ Don't get the wrong impression, it's not like he's a good guy or anything, Ann. Geez!! ]
no subject
Just that first impressions ping you to be involved. [ SHE DOESN'T SAY HE'S A GOOD GUY. If anything, he's kind of a stubborn ass. She deals with it, though. It wasn't as if he gave her bad vibes yet. Ann's already almost prepped, the worker cleaning off her arm and inspecting the vein. ] Technically I'm not wrong.
[ And there's a hiss past her lips when the needle slides against her. For now, she thinks this will be quick, but she's eyeing 76 instead of focusing on the lack of blood being drawn. Looks like the worker was missing a vein or having issues. ]
no subject
(And he hadn't always followed that rule so closely, either.) ]
Well, I could say the same about you.
[ Ann seems a little nervous, so talking to her while they get the needle placed into her arm will serve as a small distraction. Except that 76 can see that the worker isn't finding her vein so easily. She should have good veins; she's young.
Which might mean that the person helping them isn't all that competent. 76 lifts his head slightly. ] You got it? [ He addresses the question to the volunteer. ]

[ This was kinda civilian territory for her. She remembers hearing about blood drives but never participated in them. It was usually teachers or businesses having them and encouraging employees to donate.
It was weird being on this, wincing when the third prick presses to her vein and barely gets a tiny amount in before Ann feels some pressure. The volunteer shakes their head, disappointment as they withdraw the needle and sets it on the small medical tray. ]
Hey, what gives? [ Her hand immediately goes to rub at her arm, ginger in her squeeze. ] I made sure to follow the rules before donating β
[ Unfortunately, we're going to need to enter the next level of extraction. Get the healer in here, Herbert. She's a thin one β the wound may gush. And there's a dramatic reveal of a medical scalpel from this little volunteer and Ann is definitely going to scoot back with her back hitting the wall. ]
H-Hey! What the hell?! That's not even β that's not legal! I didn't sign up for that!
no subject
Speaking of which...
They give up on Ann's vein almost immediately, then start going on about wounds and gushing and then there's the gleaming blade of a scalpel.
76 can't really blame Ann for her reaction. What the hell are they doing? He's out of his seat instantly, placing himself between the volunteer and Ann. ]
If you can't get to her vein without slicing her arm open, I think you're better off letting this one go.
[ There's a slight growl in his tone, a harshness that indicates he isn't about to debate that decision. ]
no subject
The worker, following orders, merely tries to defend their action: But the blood β The growl in his tone does well to ward off the rebuttals. No matter the value of blood right now, Ann was pissed that she was going to be cut up like some lab experiment. ]
That's not even standard protocol! [ She thinks? The worker pulls their gloves off, hands in the air and walks out frustrated. ] What the hell β they weren't really going to do that... right?
[ She's too much in disbelief, tbh. ]
no subject
Cutting someone open to take their blood isn't standard protocol for either of them, but it must not be such a big deal here in Olympia, judging from the reaction.
When the worker leaves, 76 turns back to Ann. ]
They seemed pretty serious. Remember, they're not as technologically advanced as what we're used to.
[ That doesn't mean any of this is remotely okay. ]
I'm guessing you wanna get out of here, right? [ He nods to the door. Here's your chance. ] I'll keep 'em busy.
no subject
[ It was infuriating. Her heart was racing and her hand was defensively cradling against the inner flesh of her elbow. It stung, but damn it could have been a lot worse. She sits up, scooting to the edge of the medical bed she was situated on.
His offer makes her eyes dart nervously. Having him offer to keep them busy makes her have to choose now β she looks to the exit, then back to him. ]
I'm out of here then. Are you sticking around?

SEP had been an exercise in getting poked and prodded beyond all reason, and while it had been years and years ago, he isn't going to get squeamish at whatever they try on him.
At her question, he nods. ] They'll want to talk to someone when they get back. [ And he'll give them his blood if they still want it; it's fine. ] Get outta here.
[ He doesn't expect for her to wait for him or anything like that, either. They'd only run into each other again by change, right? ]

[ Ann's tone was full of venom, a bit huffy as she stuffs her hands into her pockets. But, he talks about her leaving and she makes a motion. ]
Hit me up later, let me know how this goes.
[ She's gone through the doorway and in a second, she pops her head back out β mainly because she didn't say: ]
Uh. T-thanks, by the way.
no subject
When she returns briefly to thank him, he shakes his head. ] Don't worry about it, just get outta here.
[ Once she's gone, the staff returns and while they're confused that one of their patients disappeared, ultimately they're happy enough to take a pint from 76's veins. It's a quick enough process (they don't try the knife method this time), so once he's finished he finds Ann in the directory on his phone and sends a quick text. ]
All done. Still in one piece.
no subject
She receives his text later when she's settled in her room. She bee-lined it home and didn't want to talk to anyone, not after her nerves getting rocked as hard as they did. ]
You still went through with it? I don't know if I would be able to trust them!!
no subject
He's also made it back to the house he shares with Ana. He halfway hadn't been expecting Ann to respond, but when she does he shakes his head to himself and types out a reply.
Old as he might look, he's well-versed in texting. ]
They had an easier time finding my veins. I've given blood before, so I wasn't too worried about it. And I got some silver for it.

Glad it went.. decent, though. Still don't know what the hell was up with it. If you find out, let me know. I have some friends wanting to sign up for that clinic β but if they do that? It's nuts!
no subject
I'll let you know if I hear anything. So are you and all of your friends interested in healing?
[ Seriously, what's that about? ]
