WYVER
JOB #1 — SHADY GOODS (WYVER EDITION)
It seems that in the influx of political agendas and uprisings, business is booming for some people. Weapons and potion sales in Wyver are at an all-time high, preparing for what could be another war. It seems that due to the limited stock of goods, a small group of hagglers are now beginning to make counterfeit goods and weapons, distributing them to desperate families.
Aranea's gotten the details: lower-income families are having weapons combust, imbued with unstable magic even when not used and potions are having deadly effects. She's done her research, hired some trackers and has found the supplies are being shipped between a farm north of Wyver this week. If accepting this job, you're to meet an informant (Baki) who is reporting some odd stuff, including workers being forced to mass produce these goods.
Baki says there's three main times that carriages come in: morning, afternoon, and dead of night. Pick your time and scope out the farm.
OUTCOMES:
► MORNING — In the morning you can see some Olympian carriage roll into the area. There are armored guards, but no — it's not royalty. The carriage seems to belong to a noble woman who disappears inside. You can either trail the woman back to Olympia with a chance of losing her or interrogate one of her guards. They inform you she is Lady Patricia, a noble woman whose family owns a blacksmith empire in Olympia, but business has been failing due to competition. Her goods are made quick with little attention to detail, earning super bad reviews. So? She's trying a new market in Wyver.
► AFTERNOON — After Lady Patricia leaves, if you are keen to go in the broad daylight, you'll be able to spy children workers in the barn, working endlessly at the counterfeit goods. They're skinny, boney, and many of them look sick. One of them begins to seemingly have a seizure, urging some of the guards of the make-shift factory to exit and prepare her to travel. If you follow them into the neighboring woods, you'll find out there was no plans to take her to a shaman for healing, instead they planned to execute her. You can save the girl! You'll have to fight off five guards and four guard dogs.
► EVENING — In the dead of night, you'll be able to find no sign or knowledge of Lady Patricia — you'll only find the empty warehouse. The children are ushered into the cellar at night, but you'll only be able to come to that conclusion by investigating. Small children toys seemingly dropped near barrels of hay and the sound of sobs heard muffled — by pushing the hay to the side, you'll find a locked cellar. Save the children and/or burn the factory to the ground.
Regardless of which route you take, you'll receive 700 Silver.
JOB #2 — CARD SHARK
An annual tournament for QUICK CARDS is happening tonight. There will be an assortment of participants in the event, which means there are room for multiple things. Aranea's, of course, insisting there's hired muscle on the event. It's only right since things always seem to go wrong in places like this.
The jobs are as following:
- Bouncers/body guards: 260 Silver
- Mixologists: 100 Silver
- Waiters/Waitresses (including sexy dragon costume :/): 80 Silver
- Entertainment (singers, musicians, comedians): 110 Silver
The night seems fine, but it seems not everything goes according to plan. One participant that lost earlier in the night is seen leaving the scene after a large sum of money goes missing. A jealous lover of one of the participants pulls out a fire spell in anger, setting the club ablaze!
OUTCOMES:
► PURSUE THE MYSTERIOUS PARTICIPANT and you'll find a fight with his gang of cardsharks. They're equipped with elemental magic so this alleyway brawl might get a bit messy. If he is not subdued in the fight, he'll get away with over 3K worth of Silver. Aranea will not pay out for the lost money or your paycheck, resulting in 0 Silver. If you bring him to the authorities, you'll be rewarded 100 Silver for your "good deed".
►PUTTING OUT THE FIRE is a no-brainer, but during the rush, you'll find a few elderly patrons passed out from the smoke. If you get them to safety, you're rewarded with an additional 120 Silver and access to some of the Old City's more classy areas which includes a makeshift lounge and some of the best damn Dragonshine bootleg ale (banned in Wyver). You'll find it's kind of an unofficial membership...
OLYMPIA
JOB #3 — SHADY GOODS (OLYMPIA EDITION
Since the closing of the counterfeit spell sweatshop, there have been mercenary posters for a a swan-crested burgundy carriage with golden wheels belonging to a mysterious woman. It was last seen in the Market District before disappearing. It's been over a week and the carriage seems to have vanished. However... one person has spotted an unmarked carriage with golden wheels leaving a painter's gallery — hm?
If this job is taken, characters will take three different routes:
OUTCOMES:
► SOUTH MARKET will not yield the carriage, but you're able to discuss with a fish merchant about the owner. You learn Lady Patrica is a noble who once had the most thriving blacksmithery due to her husband's skill and talent with a forge. After his death, she inherited the business and since has been focused on maintaining her lifestyle as her funds dwindle. The golden wheels were the last gift given to her, irreplaceable.
► WEST MARKET will not yield the carriage but instead allows you to find the V for Victory shop which bears the same insignia (a Swan). You'll find one of the workers who seems to be quite unsatisfied with the lowpaying job and horrid conditions. Lady Patricia has not been seen in the shops for months, but passes letters with well-known Wyver-ink condemning the workers...
► NORTH MARKET will find the carriage among others on a congested, busy street. As you attempt to speak with it's driver, it suddenly takes off into the crowd, injuring civilians. Quick! Grab a carriage and chase after them! If you successfully board onto their carriage or run them off the road, the driver insists Lady Patricia is merely a business woman and would never sell weapons in Wyver. If intimidated, they will speak that Lady Patricia owns a summer home in Stroln Village but may not be easily found.
The first two options yield limited information, but Aranea will pay 150 Silver for both of those routes. Aranea will pay 400 Silver for anyone who gets information from the North Market.
CONTINUED NEXT MONTH.
JOB #4 — SETTLING DOWN
So, with the tensions involving refugees and drama continuing to boil between the two empires, Aranea Highwind has a personal goal: anyone who is willing is to be paid handsomely for some field research. She's looking to find a sanctuary for others, to move past this two-choice alignment. It may not lead anywhere, but she has the interest of a few people looking to defect. That's something?
On the job board, there are three key areas Aranea wants field reports from which include: fiend populations, native's temperament, notable landmarks, food sources, and terrain of the land.
Aranea will reward players with 400 Silver for a successful field report.
OUTCOMES:
► AN UNKNOWN VILLAGE EAST OF OLYMPIA — On your way to this village, you'll stop by a few merchants who are carrying dozens of pinecones in nets. It seems these are savored by many as delicacies, only falling from certain trees once a year. They fetch a high price of 270 Silver a bag, but it will require you to go off to explore into the woods outside of the village... Beware, the merchants warn of bandits.
►AN UNKNOWN RUINS SOUTH OF OLYMPIA — The ruins are as dreary as they sound — only a long forgotten civilization carved into stone and wood remains. There's nothing here except for a few glowing orbs in the sky. The closer you get, the more captivated you are. WILL-O-WHISPS will lure your characters out of the ruins, into the woods surrounding the area. Upon disappearing, you'll find yourself in an old campsite where skeletal remains wait to be buried. A small notebook reads the following: The night is too long, we can't fight them off forever. The unseen menace awaits for us — this land is CURSED. You will be rewarded nothing for this.
► AN UNKNOWN SETTLEMENT NORTHEAST OF OLYMPIA — These people want nothing to do with the refugees and immediately upon arriving, they will hurry to rush you out. Here, you'll find a more simple way of life but it is not until you find their medicinal herbs and natural remedies alluring. A peddler views you as a tourist and immediately tries to enlist you to purchase their latest goods. There are three spells unheard of so far in your stay: sleeping powder, paralysis powder, and love potions. These are all strong and work with natural ingredients. Will you test them out?

JOB #5 — SUPPORT GROUP
...It's been a long month. With hostages now attempting to mend their wounds, rescuers trying to forget the horrors they saw — there's a long road to recovery for some. Aranea's not good at the feelings talk. She's not good at the warm fuzzies. But, she organizes something calling for survivors, rescuers, and anyone who has some feelings on this to meet up and talk at a small outpost between Wyver and Olympia. There's small rooms with curtains dividing them — allowing anonymity if anyone so wishes to pursue that.
However, to make this work effectively... there's a few things needed...
OUTCOMES:
► SURVIVORS/RESCUERS can talk among themselves about their trauma. Anyone who acts as a therapist will receive 150 Silver for helping their fellow refugee.
► HUNTING/FOOD PREPARATION is needed. For anyone who hunts meat for the group, you'll receive 25 Silver, anyone who works the kitchen will receive 35 Silver.
► ENTERTAINERS are hired to keep any survivor's mind off their trauma. It's a small gesture, but a community performance of the HUFF THE MYSTICAL DRAGON — some children's book about a giant dragon is looking for people to work as actors and for stage crew. 50 Silvers to anyone who participates.
Have fun! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me! These are all loosely based on your choices, so feel free to go wild with them. The outcomes only are indication of what the jobs would offer. There are limitations to some things as these aren't mod-run, but enjoy yourself for CR building. Sorry for the delay!
Aranea Highwind will ICly be contacting characters and offering them jobs based off the assumption she will receive 30% of the cut.

Aranea Highwind
[ Even with the fliers panning across both cities, Aranea isn't shy about actually doing the work. Aranea is found in a small dinky warehouse most of the day and sometimes at night, but the overtime gig is killing her. For those needing to contact her, she's available shuffling through some requests from locals or through text messages for those in Olympia! ]
Rocket | ota
[Rocket's had time to settle and heal from the last ordeal, and he's thrown himself full tilt into whatever work he can get, both for money and for distraction. This one, in particular, really singes his whiskers, so he takes it on the spot.
i. AFTERNOON.
Rocket's taking advantage of his small stature to move fairly unhindered in daylight, because he's easy to mistake for a woodland creature if no one can ever get a good look at him. He's investigating the barn, peering up on tiptoes into one of the dirty windows to observe what's happening. His ears flatten and he scowls- he has no real love for kids, but after hearing Yondu talk about his time as a battle slave for the Kree and then listened to Prompto talk about his own humble origins, he's kind of developed an unexpected soft spot for youngsters being reduced to commodities, too young to even realize they have choices.
He's so irritated by this that when a twig snaps behind him, he yanks his gun off his back and whirls.
...Nothing like getting a face-full of armed woodland creature when you were just out to investigate a job, huh?
ii. EVENING
[While Rocket did his recon on his own, he finds others to help him with the actual task, and under the cover of darkness, they scout the farm with Rocket on all fours, sniffing the ground. It's undignified but it gets results, so nobody gets to make fun of him for it, all right??
He finds a bedraggled, soot-covered doll near some of the hay bales and picks it up as he stands back on two legs, offering it to his partner.] They passed by here not long ago.
B. CARD SHARK- PUTTING OUT THE FIRE (AFTERMATH)
[This was mostly just a bouncer gig, so when Rocket made Enployee of the Month after
putting out that grease fire with his facehelping out that nice elderly couple (probably on sheer accident OR SO HE SAYS, because he doesn't like to admit that he's the guy who went out of his way to save civilians on Xandar), he's... honestly shocked. It almost makes the fact that his whiskers are literally singed better.Once the list of perks have been given, he turns to his (equally singed) partner in all of this chaos and looks delighted.] Did you hear "bootleg ale" too or did I make that up?
