( introlog #5 ) strangerer things
You have spent the last few days on Thesa Station, taking in the knowledge that your world is no more. Perhaps you've made some friends (or maybe an enemy or two). Either way, you aren't expected to spend all of your time on the Station. El Nysa needs you, after all, and you promised you'd help the planet thrive. Are you ready?
Submit an AC-eligible thread with a new character as a participant for 2 OLYMPIA REP POINTS OR 2 WYVER REP POINTS, respectively, HERE or HERE. THESA STATION
All refugees on the station are called to the hangar where a large-scale teleporter has been set up; everyone will be sent to the planet together. Simply step onto the space between the arrays and wait. Before they depart, all new refugees will be given a starter kit!
You may have heard about earlier technical difficulties, but don't worry. I promise everything is in perfect working order this time. I'd say I tested it myself, but since that's not exactly possible, you'll just have to trust me! (Please.) The older refugees will also be there to guide you to ensure no one is left confused... or behind. Make sure you wait for them — I've been detecting something odd so I'll be having them meet you at the landing site. Good luck, refugees! Not that you'll be needing it or anything... The arrays begin to hum and glow, quickly building into a brilliant wash of light. It creates a column that travels all the way from Thesa Station to the surface of El Nysa. With the night sky as a canvas, the beam can be seen all the way from Olympia and Wyver — a view that has the natives whispering of blessings. As a sudden but beautiful aurora splays across the sky, the refugees down on the planet receive a message asking them to travel to the landing site — and warning them to prepare for what may come of the strange readings Zasere's gotten from the teleport itself. ON A BEAM OF LIGHT ![]()
Traveling through the light leaves the impression of blinding starlight, a strange sense of weightlessness, and a disorienting moment of total sensory deprivation. The radiance of your teleport hangs bright in the sky above you, a shimmering aurora that reflects off the calm waters below, visible for miles all around.
You've landed on a peninsula to the east of the South Outpost. There's little here — scattered trees on spring-barren plains, with a few overgrown, dilapidated structures poking out of the brush. All is quiet save for the keening of animals and the gentle lapping of waves against the shore. This lonely desolation is hardly the bustling cities and vibrant cultures you were promised back on the station... BY CAMPFIRE'S GLOW. But waiting for you is a group of your predecessors, and with them, a veritable tent city, with portable stoves, coolers of food and drink, comfortable bedrolls, and cheerful rings of bonfires — all that you need to make merry of the night, courtesy of Overseer Voss, who has, thanks to his interest in blessed meteorological phenomena and refugees, decided to make a holy expedition of the affair. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS ![]()
Despite going off without hitch, the new refugees' arrival isn't entirely without incident. It seems that the "blessed" beam of light that brought the refugees down to El Nysa brought something else along with it — a sliver of the Storm. At least the beam was short enough that only a small fraction managed to squeeze through.
But it's enough to wreak a little havoc around the landing site and along the road back toward Olympia and Wyver — and even, for a few days, in the cities themselves. THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE. The Storm is an undeniably destructive force, and that's proven with this small sliver's effect as it ripples across the continent. While there's no visible sign of its presence, strange phenomena soon begin to appear, corresponding with Zasere's odd readings. DECISIONS, DECISIONS... ![]()
The time is coming to make a choice — perhaps not a permanent choice, but unless you want to spend the rest of your nights out under the stars, you'll need to pick which city you will initially spend your time in. On the horizon, you will see that people have arrived to help you make that decision...
A FORK IN THE ROAD. Refugees and the hyper-religious wishing to hear Voss speak are not the only ones out and about under the light of the aurora. Citizens of both Olympia and Wyver have flocked to a point on the road midway between the cities and where the refugees have appeared, and they all have the same goal in mind: convincing the newcomers who have just descended in the blessed light of Thesa to come to their city and not the other. You've chosen your path, refugee, but that doesn't necessarily make it a permanent one. Watch out for the strange effects of the Storm, which linger still in the two cities and everywhere in between for the next few days before dissipating just as mysteriously as they came, but otherwise enjoy the welcome and make yourself at home — after all, this is home now. FINAL OOC NOTES

Mipha | Legend of Zelda
[Alright well fuck this. While this is still a much better welcome than most of the refugees have gotten the past couple of times, of course something ha to go wrong. Mipha supposes it could be worse, though she's not entirely pleased to go from feeling like she's out in the middle of the desert to feeling like she's in the middle of a snowstorm the next second.
A sudden surge of wind has her toppling over, possibly right into someone before she slams the points of her trident into the ground to anchor her and possibly whoever she ran into]
My apologies. This weather is-- A tad abnormal. [A tad?? She suddenly winces as hail begins to fall]
I think it'd be best if we hurried along to shelter. Are you alright?
[Memmoorrieess all alone in the mooonliiigghtt. AKA The memory share prompt. Warning for BOTW Spoilers if you're still avoiding those]
[The first memory that pops up isn't actually a bad one. In fact, it's quite sweet and cute! Just Mipha healing Link and talking shyly about a potential future together, once things have quieted down.
Perhaps you're lucky and that's the only memory you see! Or perhaps you linger too long and move around and the next one comes. And the memory that comes after is... Decidedly not as nice. (Warning for death!) Definitely no happy endings there.
Mipha herself, the real one, manages to look like her composure is all under wraps though, calmly folding her hands in front of her, chin lifted bravely, and expression calm.] I'm sorry you had to see that. [And then she pauses, uncertain of what to say next.] ...Shall we try to find a way out?
[Wildcard!]
[If your character is injured during any point of the intro log, Mipha will be more than happy to approach and offer to heal their wounds! If you have anything else you wanna do, PM me, hit me up at
Memories
No big deal. I’ve seen worse.
[It’s not a lie.]
I’m not the one who just saw themselves die, though. How are you holding up?
no subject
[Mipha smiles sadly and shrugs, looking back at him. It DOES bother her a little to have seen it all again, but not to the extent she'd let it really effect her] I'm sorry that your own experiences dulled you to it, though... I can't say I'm not glad it hasn't frightened you either. [She bows her head politely] My name is Mipha.
no subject
[Chuuya shrugs. His life has been an odd one, but there’s nothing he can look back on and say that he truly regrets. Joining the Mafia doesn’t make for a soft, comfy life, after all.]
No big deal.
[Chuuya bows in turn. He’s polite when he needs to be.]
Chuuya Nakahara.
[Then it dawns on him. Why it took so long with the resemblance, he doesn’t know.]
Sidon mentioned you.
no subject
It's the mention of Sidon that has her composure breaking briefly, her eyes going wide in surprise and then softening with a laugh.] Did he? [That's right, Sidon was awake now. She feels a swell of pride and joy at this and smiles brightly]
I suppose I'm not surprised. [He sure did like to talk about her.] I hope he didn't cause you too much trouble? He can be very enthusiastic at times.
no subject
[There’s something oddly charming about these Zora, and Mipha is actually pretty goddamn adorable. Chuuya can’t help but smile just a tiny bit at the obvious fondness she has for her brother.
Ahem. Anyway.]
Well. Guess we should find a way out of here.
[Chuuya honestly has no idea how to break this illusion; but these are Mipha’s memories, so shouldn’t she be the one that needs to break it? Chuuya will help if he can, but that only makes sense.]
I wonder how many others are trapped like this.

Even if not. She'll be quite a bit larger overall than the person she got knocked into, who - taken by surprise in a way that becomes distressingly common with every passing moment - stumbles forward into a front-first skid across the ground.
Lovely.
Krile grimaces as she picks herself back up, careful, as the wind has not died down so much as someone here serves as a curtain against it. When the hail starts, she fights with all her being not to roll her eyes and mutter all her worst thoughts.]
Fine. Perfectly fine. [A little dirtied and Not Amused but she can brush all the grass from her cloak once the hail goes away and her hands are free of trying to protect herself from it.] It isn't as though you wanted to knock me down. Is it?
no subject
Still, she IS taller than Krile, and will feel absolutely terrible over knocking her over] Of course not! [Perish the thought!] I deeply apologize. If you're injured, allow me to heal you once we get to safety.
[Mipha winces at the hail impact, looking around until she spots what appears to be a little makeshift shelter, probably just to be used as a brief resting area for weary travelers. It's not terribly well-fortified and won't stop all the hail or anything, but it's better than nothing.] There! I believe we can make it!
[Mipha's not going to be rude and offer to carry Krile or anything, but she does gesture for her to go ahead] I'll try to block the wind as best I can to keep form knocking us over again.
no subject
That won't be necessary. I can heal myself if it comes to that. [But she doesn't think she's hurt. Perhaps a bruise or two.] I know it's a bit of a long shot, but you wouldn't happen to know someone called Mipha, would you?
[While they both hurry toward that makeshift shelter. That's the perfect time for out of the blue questions. When isn't it the perfect time?
And she would appreciate not being carried, if she knew.]
no subject
I-- yes. [A simplified answer, but she waits until they've ducked under the awning of the shelter area--it's a smallish space, with a sort of makeshift table and chairs meant clearly just as a brief respite and not made entirely for long, comfortable stays--before she continues.] I am Mipha.
[Mipha tilts her head, curious] Why do you ask?
no subject
While I was still in the station, I chanced to meet someone who looks a great deal like you; my presumption that he is one of your kind appears to be correct. He was looking for a woman named Mipha. His sister.
[Can that be construed as doing her part?]

MEMORIIIIES
[He's trying very, very hard not to let on that he's experiencing some pretty weird feelings right now, seeing her together with Link. It's not like he didn't know how she felt about him. And these feelings... he has no right to be feeling them anyway.]
[But hey, demons are possessive, news at 11.]
...my, I wonder just how long these little memory snippets will be sticking around.
no subject
She never thought she'd see Hyrule again, or see the Zora Domain so close. While the memory is a bittersweet one, she's still more distracted by the scenery right now. Her hand reaches out to tug on Mephisto's sleeve, pointing out towards the glimmering little oasis that was the Zora Domain in the distance, but close enough to make out distinct structures]
That's my home, over there. I never thought I'd see it again or get the chance to show you any of this...
no subject
[But his attention is quickly pulled away as she tugs upon his sleeve, looking out over at the glittering city in the distance.]
...it's a beautiful homeland. [Hmm.] Do you suppose if we travel too far from this, we'll disrupt the memory too much for it to remain stable?
[Teleporting might be too risky, but if they just flew there... maybe she could see it up close?]
no subject
her fingers tighten their grip on his sleeve, equal parts thrilled and terrified at the idea.] I... I'm not sure. I don't believe so. It's still a part of my memories, after all. [She doesn't want to get her hopes up, really. She doesn't want to set herself up for disappointment but she turns to Mephisto with wide, hopeful eyes anyhow]
We can try, can't we? I mean... It would be worth it, I think. [A pause.] ...Can we try?
no subject
[With little fanfare, he reaches down and scoops Mipha up into his arms -- effortlessly as always, though uh. As he stands at the edge of the platform, it might seem like he's about to just yolo off the edge with her??]
But you know, I've been waiting for the right opportunity to show you something myself. And this looks like the perfect opportunity... [Holding out one of his hands, he snaps his fingers -- and in a poof, an old pink umbrella with candy and sweets designs on it appears in his hand.]
...to show you an old friend of mine that's finally returned to me. [And with a little count of eins, zwei, drei, the umbrella pops open... turning into a small bat-like creature with large button-like eyes and bright green teeth. Its "tail" becomes the handle that Mephisto keeps a hold of, and as the bat stretches out its long wings, it looks down at Mipha and chirps at her.]

wildcard/spoilerish
And then suddenly, they're transported to a massive and overly extravagant office. It's easy to guess whose office it may be, considering that Mephisto's at his desk. Shura remembers this, the way she's poking at the holes in her sword. This isn't a bad memory, but considering her present company, Shura doesn't think it wise to linger. It might make things complicated, and seriously, she doesn't want to deal with that.
Shura speaks over Mephisto as he offers to find a new demon for her to contract with, moving towards the doorway.]
Ugh, seriously? C'mon, let's find a way out. No way this is real.
no subject
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is some kind of illusion, and Mipha's smart enough to know this isn't something just made up and throwing people they might know together. So she doesn't follow after the real-Shura, instead opting to move closer to Mephisto and his desk.]
...You know Mephisto? [She'll use that name then, since it appears they were working together and it's the name she was told that, if people know it, they likely know his true identity as a demon. So she'll try and see if Shura knows him by that name first as well]
no subject
Though she just called him Mephisto? Then was his little game up?]
Yeah, you could say that.
["And handle my demotion," she hears herself say, and she rolls her eyes.]
Tch. Guy didn't even bother handlin' that like he said he would.
[She rattles the doorknob, but it doesn't budge. Well, crap. Was she going to have to try and kick the door down? No way she could do that on her own.]
no subject
You work for him? ...Worked? [Past tense? Maybe??]
no subject
Yeah, he was my boss, somethin' like that.
[Not her direct supervisor, but close enough. It'd be too annoying to have to explain the hierarchy of the Order and where she had fallen in it.]
A pain the hind end, that's what he was. Still is.
[The toys on his desk are the only indication of his true otaku nature; the rest of the office is tasteful in spite of its ostentatious decor. But the mood of the memory sinks as Hachiro is mentioned.]
You that interested in this? It ain't that fasincatin'.

percy looks over at her, sidelong, and grins. ]
Seems like you really like this guy. You didn't mention that part when we went up to see everyone in stasis.
[ he. he might ship it now. or at least definitely enough to gently tease mipha. ]
no subject
Well, this was... It was quite a long time ago. I'm afraid it wasn't exactly, um, meant to be. [Unfortunately. She looks sheepish though more than sad]
...But I did like him very much. I think a part of me always will. [She laughs a little] When we first met he was only about 4 years old and already able to beat grown men in sword fights. I often was healing him from training or exploring and he was so delighted to see magic every time. It was adorable.
no subject
[ TBH YOU'RE CUTE, MIPHA. what kind of a jerk wouldn't pick you!! ]
So the, uh -- the Highlights [ wait no. ] Hylians, they didn't have magic?
no subject
Not typically, no. They're capable of it, and there have been instances of powerful magicians among them, but it's rare. The Princess... [Mipha pauses a moment as if to debate how much to say before realizing it's not like it was a secret in their world anyhow--yada yada prophecy etc--so she continues]
The princess of Hyrule is capable of extremely powerful magic, for example. Her bloodline is sacred, the blood of the goddess Hylia, so she's able to do amazing things once she awakens it. [Another pause and she adds, a bit sheepishly] I'm trying to keep the topic light, but I'm afraid there's quite a lot of pain interwoven through all of this as well. I may be hedging things a little for your sake. [It's an angst that fits over everything like a second skin and she's more than used to it but others might not be so much.]
