( introlog #5 ) strangerer things
You have spent the last few days on Thesa Station, taking in the knowledge that your world is no more. Perhaps you've made some friends (or maybe an enemy or two). Either way, you aren't expected to spend all of your time on the Station. El Nysa needs you, after all, and you promised you'd help the planet thrive. Are you ready?
Submit an AC-eligible thread with a new character as a participant for 2 OLYMPIA REP POINTS OR 2 WYVER REP POINTS, respectively, HERE or HERE. THESA STATION
All refugees on the station are called to the hangar where a large-scale teleporter has been set up; everyone will be sent to the planet together. Simply step onto the space between the arrays and wait. Before they depart, all new refugees will be given a starter kit!
You may have heard about earlier technical difficulties, but don't worry. I promise everything is in perfect working order this time. I'd say I tested it myself, but since that's not exactly possible, you'll just have to trust me! (Please.) The older refugees will also be there to guide you to ensure no one is left confused... or behind. Make sure you wait for them — I've been detecting something odd so I'll be having them meet you at the landing site. Good luck, refugees! Not that you'll be needing it or anything... The arrays begin to hum and glow, quickly building into a brilliant wash of light. It creates a column that travels all the way from Thesa Station to the surface of El Nysa. With the night sky as a canvas, the beam can be seen all the way from Olympia and Wyver — a view that has the natives whispering of blessings. As a sudden but beautiful aurora splays across the sky, the refugees down on the planet receive a message asking them to travel to the landing site — and warning them to prepare for what may come of the strange readings Zasere's gotten from the teleport itself. ON A BEAM OF LIGHT ![]()
Traveling through the light leaves the impression of blinding starlight, a strange sense of weightlessness, and a disorienting moment of total sensory deprivation. The radiance of your teleport hangs bright in the sky above you, a shimmering aurora that reflects off the calm waters below, visible for miles all around.
You've landed on a peninsula to the east of the South Outpost. There's little here — scattered trees on spring-barren plains, with a few overgrown, dilapidated structures poking out of the brush. All is quiet save for the keening of animals and the gentle lapping of waves against the shore. This lonely desolation is hardly the bustling cities and vibrant cultures you were promised back on the station... BY CAMPFIRE'S GLOW. But waiting for you is a group of your predecessors, and with them, a veritable tent city, with portable stoves, coolers of food and drink, comfortable bedrolls, and cheerful rings of bonfires — all that you need to make merry of the night, courtesy of Overseer Voss, who has, thanks to his interest in blessed meteorological phenomena and refugees, decided to make a holy expedition of the affair. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS ![]()
Despite going off without hitch, the new refugees' arrival isn't entirely without incident. It seems that the "blessed" beam of light that brought the refugees down to El Nysa brought something else along with it — a sliver of the Storm. At least the beam was short enough that only a small fraction managed to squeeze through.
But it's enough to wreak a little havoc around the landing site and along the road back toward Olympia and Wyver — and even, for a few days, in the cities themselves. THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE. The Storm is an undeniably destructive force, and that's proven with this small sliver's effect as it ripples across the continent. While there's no visible sign of its presence, strange phenomena soon begin to appear, corresponding with Zasere's odd readings. DECISIONS, DECISIONS... ![]()
The time is coming to make a choice — perhaps not a permanent choice, but unless you want to spend the rest of your nights out under the stars, you'll need to pick which city you will initially spend your time in. On the horizon, you will see that people have arrived to help you make that decision...
A FORK IN THE ROAD. Refugees and the hyper-religious wishing to hear Voss speak are not the only ones out and about under the light of the aurora. Citizens of both Olympia and Wyver have flocked to a point on the road midway between the cities and where the refugees have appeared, and they all have the same goal in mind: convincing the newcomers who have just descended in the blessed light of Thesa to come to their city and not the other. You've chosen your path, refugee, but that doesn't necessarily make it a permanent one. Watch out for the strange effects of the Storm, which linger still in the two cities and everywhere in between for the next few days before dissipating just as mysteriously as they came, but otherwise enjoy the welcome and make yourself at home — after all, this is home now. FINAL OOC NOTES
An AC-eligible thread with a new character as a participant for 2 REP POINTS FOR EITHER OLYMPIA OR WYVER may be submitted from this log. SUBMIT THE THREAD FOR OLYMPIA OR WYVER HERE AND HERE RESPECTIVELY BY APRIL 29th 11:59 PM EST.
We will no longer be providing overflow posts. In an event where the post hits CAPTCHA, players are advised to move threads to an overflow post on their character journals or create their own catch-all post. These threads remain eligible for AC, AC Rewards, and REP. 1 SILVER = 1 US DOLLAR. |
Venom | Guilty Gear
[The storm was nothing new, especially not after the one experienced so long ago. Venom weathered it the best he could, but something feels... off. As he's escorting others, he swears he's done this before. Not just the traveling, but traveling this exact path, with the same people. At the same time of day.
Out of curiosity, he looks up, realizing he's seen that same herd of animals in the distance. What the hell's going on?
So when he comes across some other people, he has to ask:]
My apologies, but I know we've met before, haven't we? I swear to you we have.
Forgetting is so Long
[For those in Venom's vicinity, one might start to see a grand villa, a bottle of vintage wine, a blonde man in a red blindfold. It's like witnessing a meeting, though the mood is unusually somber and bittersweet. But whoever's witnessing will notice that they're gazing at the blindfolded man for a considerable amount of time. It's not just a fond gaze, either. They'll feel a swell of something akin to love.
Another flash will show a strange boy in a bed, a bizarre robot, or Venom summoning a tremendous amount of energy.
When you come to, you might see an alleyway, and a group of assassins surrounding you, talking about the wolf pack and a poisonous sheep...]
I... you shouldn't have seen that... I'm so sorry...
Of White and Gold - wildcard
[As a continuing bid to atonement, Venom will offer a tour of Olympia. If anyone's interested in checking out businesses, the cute dragon cafe, or even Shades Darker, he has you covered. Hit me up with a prompt or contact me at
I
...really, the fact that she could have somehow passed a man with an eye dyed onto his hair, more than once, and not found it odd? That says something, and none of what it says is good.
Diana frowns.] I-- yes, we've certainly encountered each other, but--
--how is that possible? I've been walking this path straight, with no turns.
no subject
You're correct. We've not diverged from the path at all. Have we entered some kind of vortex?
[Or were they just lost??]
no subject
I'm not sure about a "vortex," but there's certainly something odd happening.
One moment. [She steps to the side, off the path, and draws the slender rod from the sash around her waist. A flick of her wrist expands it into its full form, and the tip begins to glow with green light.]
There's... something not natural going on, but I'm not sure what.
no subject
I wonder if it has to do with the recent storm.
[As he walks forward, he notices that same herd. Now this is getting both scary and annoying.]
What the... This is the third time I've seen that herd.
no subject
I hadn't imagined it'd be this localized, however.
no subject
[Otherwise they're all stuck together in some kind of bizarre time loop.]
There has to be a way around it.
no subject
[If Akko were here; if she had the Shiny Rod and the Seven Words... but Diana herself doesn't know any magic that powerful.] If nothing else, I can see if it has a height limit.
no subject
[He can try using his teleportation magic, but sadly it has a very limited range. Hopefully this young magician has something stronger in her arsenal.]
I'll keep an eye out for any other anomalies, including all repeating landmarks.

forgetting
Neither of them actually had to, judging by the memory that flashes after that one. Anders still feels a swell of respect, though, watching his friend as he talks to his former comrades. )
Did that actually happen? ( He asks, looking at the real Venom and wondering if this wasn't a vision from his future. )
no subject
That did happen. I felt I had to do that in order for my Guild to survive.
I had hoped to die there, but it didn't quite work out that way.
no subject
( He's genuinely curious. Venom didn't do anything quite as atrocious as Anders, so there doesn't seem to be a reason for him to have to die to bring justice to the people he harmed. The man Venom attacked was dead. )
no subject
[It became clearer that Venom had very little regard for his own life and well being. He'd been so unhappy that he wasn't afraid to end it all for the sake of others.]
But then my friend rescued me, and I had planned to devote myself to raising money for his repairs.
no subject
( The one Venom was looking for in stasis room, back when Anders had first met him, when he offered to help look for him and the man in the red blindfold named Zato. Anders knows self-sacrificing Venom is, but it still makes his heart ache to hear such things come out of his friend's mouth. )
What were you planning to do after that?
no subject
[Watching his head fly off after the explosion is still etched into Venom's mind.]
After raising the proper funds? I... didn't have any real plans after that. Perhaps keeping a low profile and living in disgrace for as long as required.
no subject
But that's not what you did when you got here. ( He doesn't mean it as an accusation. It's just more an observation. )
You said you wanted to atone. Has that helped you come to terms with what you did? All the lives you took?
( He's asking for a friend. )

forgetting
I-I'm not sure what I was looking at.
Venom?
no subject
What you're witnessing is the day of my "death", and eliminating my final target.
[Miles even might see two children accidentally stumble upon them, causing Venom to briefly hesitate.]
Wildcard;
But it's while he's back in Olympia that he finds himself experiencing both. He snaps out of a deep thought and can't quite remember how long he's been walking, only that it must have been for a good amount of minutes. He's in an unfamiliar part of town. He rubs his neck, unaware that he's so close to Shaders Darker that he's about to run into--]
Venom? Is that you?
[He has to ask. It feels like it's been forever. Just another person he hasn't seen since...everything went wrong.]
no subject
[The ex-assassin is rather surprised to see his friend. He hadn't seen him in a long time and wondered if he'd gone back to sleep. Venom finished giving his directions and approached the other.]
How are you, my friend? I was worried that you too had been kidnapped.
no subject
I'm...fine?
[He's at a loss for words.]
no subject
[Of course Venom's standing there and not giving his friend a hug because that would be weird, right? People don't really do that in real life.]
So where have you been? If you weren't kidnapped, that is.
no subject
No, er....I was kidnapped. I was just surprised to hear it. [And then the lie:] But I made it back in one piece.
[He doesn't want anyone knowing he's died, and he doubts anyone was checking the recovery pods for him.]
Are you...have you been okay?
no subject
[It's a convincing lie because Venom doesn't detect any reason to doubt his friend. Because of all of his visiting in Olympia and Wyver, he never had a chance to check out the pods above.]
That's good to hear, then.
I am all right, though I am a bit exhausted from all the traveling I've been doing.
no subject
[Whether he was kidnapped or not; it's a genuine sentiment without any conditions to it.
But at the mention of traveling, Dylas looks around...]
Have you been going back and forth a lot? ...and where is this? I don't usually come this way on my walks.
