Birthday Bash [Open!]
Who: Chuuya Nakahara (
thetaintedsorrow) & various!
What: Chuuya’s birthday party!
When: Takes place on the 29th but I’m putting it up early because reasons!
Where: The furry mansion and Thesa Station!
Warning(s): Possible nsfw, but it’ll be marked!
[OOC: Feel free to post your own top level for a mingle, or just a closed thread with Chuuya!]
I. Lead a Horse to Water (or Booze) [Closed to Diva]
[Chuuya has no idea that his birthday is going to be anything special this year. Of course Atsushi is a nice guy, so maybe he has some kind of surprise planned, but Chuuya isn’t expecting anything but maybe a night of drinking. Nothing too crazy.
He certainly doesn’t expect to be called outside by Diva, who seems to want him to come along somewhere. He’s got Apollo riding on his shoulder, who seems just as curious as his master.]
Uh, hi. What’s up?
II. You Aint’t Seen Nothing Yet
[Turns out there totally was a party planned! Not only that, but Atsushi had gone through the effort of building Chuuya a lavish bar in the living room of the mansion!! Needless to say Chuuya had been really fucking surprised, and of course that’s where he’s going to be spending the majority of his evening. If you gift him a bottle of booze he’ll be ecstatic, and once he’s amassed a nice variety, he’ll be mixing up all kinds of drinks at the bar, showing off different mixology skills with a flair only Chuuya can manage.
If you want to watch him he’ll happily show off, and if you have any requests, chances are he can grant them! He’ll be happy to chat!]
III. The Life of the Party
[You might also catch Chuuya in other places around the mansion! Maybe he’s mingling with the crowd with Apollo on his shoulder, who will happily flit over to you for attention. He could be in the kitchen stuffing his face with snacks before the cake is served. Maybe he’s just a bit tipsy and walking on the ceiling like a nerd. Or perhaps he’s out on the terrace, enjoying a drink as he gazes up at the stars.
Wherever you catch him, he’ll be in a good mood because of the party! Come say hi!]
IV. Pour One Out For Me
[Sometime after the party Chuuya will head up to Thesa Station to visit the pods as a sort of sentimental thing, and you’ll find him sitting with his legs sprawled out on the floor in front of two pods containing Mori Ougai and Kouyou Ozaki, two influential people in his life. He’s got a bottle of champagne and two glasses laid out, and he looks just a tiny bit wistful.
He misses his Mafia life, and this is one small way of showing it.
He pops open the bottle and pours the champagne before holding out a glass to his company.]
Toast to the past?
V. Wildcard!
[Anything goes! If you wanna plot I’m over at
arcanestardust!]

[she knows to stick close to him, though, following along by Linneus when he taps his leg lightly]
What do you mean mix...?
[it's a term he hasn't come across before - unless Chuuya means something like blending teas? But Linneus is relatively sure that's not what Chuuya means in this context...]
I'm not sure I know this expression.
no subject
[He tends to forget that some of the words he uses are unfamiliar to Linneus.]
It’s easier if I show you. C’mon.
[Chuuya will lead Linneus to the bar, and he’s already got a very mild cocktail in mind. He pulls out a bottle of Irish cream and a bottle coffee liquor as well as a small glass.]
Go ahead and sit.
[And watch the magic as Chuuya pours the dark liquor first, followed by the cream. It’s a nice balance that should only have a very light burn. He slides it over to Linneus then, grinning all the while.]
A mix for you.
no subject
[It... wasn't so much the word mix he had trouble with as the phrase Chuuya used it in, but since he covered the meaning anyway there's little point in lingering on it. He settles as he is bid, a light smile on his face as Lula goes to linger at Chuuya's elbow - intent on seeing what he is up to, or just making sure he doesn't end up on the ceiling again?
For Linneus' part he can't help but be a little curious about some of the bottles on the bar, turning one or two labels toward himself before Chuuya's bar tricks catch his attention and the glass is pushed toward him]
Oh. Thank you.
no subject
Chuuya flashes Linneus a roguish grin, nodding as he goes about pouring his own drink.]
Go ahead. Try it.
[Chuuya won’t be too terribly offended if Linneus doesn’t enjoy it; more booze for him. He doesn’t plan on getting the guy wasted, but he’s certainly hoping he’ll at least try a couple of things...]
no subject
[but she doesn't know that, Chuuya][he does take a moment to watch Chuuya again - it's new and unfamiliar, this way of making a drink, the fluid motions almost like juggling. It's not until he is encouraged to take a sip of his own drink that he realises he might have been staring.]
Oh...
[softly, again, because he was braced for a double-hit of harshness from the coffee and the alcohol - outside of wine, most of the alcohols Linneus has had any experience with have burned horribly in his throat. And while he is quite practised at maintaining a poker face despite his distaste... there is actually no need to, here.
In fact the drink is quite pleasant.
But he won't rib Chuuya about trying to get him drunk.]
no subject
He’s glad that Linneus isn’t gagging or coughing on the drink he made; that cocktail was a good call, if he does say so himself.]
Lula would scold me if I got you drunk, I think.
*insert alarm a llama pun here*
A little smile over his glass, fingers tracing over it lightly]
She would probably not understand what is happening and end up highly alarmed - best not risk it, I think.
This is common where you are from, then? 'Mixing' drinks.
Please don’t alarm the llama
[Worrying a tiny llama should be a crime!
Chuuya returns that smile, sipping at his own drink instead of knocking it back like usual. He’ll take it slow, just so he doesn’t end up getting wasted in front of Linneus.
That wouldn’t be pretty.]
Yeah. I used to do it all the time for my friends and coworkers.
[He speaks like he had a normal job...]
You know, you remind me of a rose wine.
no subject
[some stronger alcohols as well, but they were rarely mixed - and certainly not in such a variety as Chuuya has displayed.
He shakes his head, chuckling gently with the comparison]
Oh? Just because I am in the same colour scheme?
no subject
That’s part of it. It can be pretty sweet, too.
[Chuuya circles his finger around the rim of his glass.]
Kind of in between a strong red and a soft white. A nice balance.
no subject
And sweet... I would say I try to be good...
no subject
[He casually takes another sip, his smirk hidden behind his glass.]
Sometimes it’s fun being bad.
no subject
[a little lift of his eyebrows. He won't comment - because that smirk behind the glass makes it hard to tell his intentions - but if Chuuya is trying to flirt...]
I've never been good at being bad, either. I mean to say I wouldn't know how to start.
no subject
[Chuuya is definitely flirting, but how serious he is about all of it is a mystery.]
Though being good has its perks, too. It makes people want to be nice and spoil you.
no subject
[Linneus... probably doesn't seem the type to manipulate anything out of anyone; much less accept the spoiling.]
no subject
[Of course Linneus is nice just because. Atsushi is the same way.]
Oh yeah, Lula didn’t seem to like me walking on the ceiling. She’s not used to my ability yet.
no subject
[Linneus knows that powers exist - or has learned, since arriving here. He's seen them a few times, been healed by them since the kidnapping, but walking on the ceiling...?!]
I'm not sure my reaction would be much different, in all honesty. I can hardly blame her!
no subject
[That’s a really condensed version of his powers, but it works.]
I could show you, if you want.
no subject
[he can't help it, repeating the words back. He's not sure what that involves - walking on the ceiling, apparently?]
Ah-- I think we can hold off on the demonstration...
no subject
[Chuuya is still knocking back drinks, but doesn’t seem to be too drunk just yet.]
Still, I’m glad you came. It’s nice to just sit and chat like this. It’s something I didn’t get to do much back home.
no subject
[nursing his drink, an amused chuckle as he loses sight of Lula over the bar. She must be cushing down next to Chuuya’s chair - if Linneus leans he’s sure he might be able to just catch sight of an ear]
No? Nor I.
[not that talk wasn’t part of his work, but that was so often just... window-dressing. And even chatting with the others in the kitchen after hours... while some he loved dearly, it was true enough that they had little in common besides working at the Teahouse.
Being able to choose his companions... means more to Linneus than one might expect.]
Did you work like this? I’ve seen drinking establishments here arranged a little similarly to this - all the bottles...
no subject
[Daww, Chuuya can’t resist reaching down to stroke Lula’s ears as she makes herself comfortable next to him. He’s glad that she seems relaxed in his presence.]
You mean did I work as a bartender back home? Nah. This is a hobby I picked up because I like drinking alcohol and experimenting with different combinations and flavors.
[Chuuya is quiet for a moment as he considers how to tell Linneus his previous line of work. Normally it wouldn’t be a big deal to admit he was in the Mafia, but...]
I was an executive. Had my own subordinates and everything.
[He’ll leave out the professional criminal part for now.]
no subject
Well, I suppose this is true.
[that doesn't mean he feels any less like he is lacking, though a guest probably should feel at ease when hosted. That's his background, though, not a comment on Chuuya's hosting.]
An executive. [...no, sorry.] I'm sorry, I'm... not sure what that is.
[No corporations in Ivore, never mind mafia (that Linneus would know about...), though he does know what subordinates are.]
But you're in charge of people, then? So you run a business of sorts...?
no subject
[Chuuya had always taken the loss of any of his men incredibly hard, and now they’re all gone, dead when Chuuya had sworn to protect them. But Chuuya is just one man; how was supposed to save them from the Storm?
But that’s too depressing a topic for right now, so he’ll just focus on other things.]
Sometimes I miss that life, but I’m free now, right? So I can do whatever I want.
[He gives Linneus a playful wink despite his heavy heart.]
Like treat you to a good time.
no subject
[he isn't going to linger on the subject - that tinge of loss is understandable; everyone lost in the storm - but Chuuya clearly wants to move along, Linneus is happy to follow.
Tipping his head slightly at that, a little quizzically as he teases-]
A good time? And that starts with you getting me drunk first?
