[ may catch-all ]

Who: Sherlock Holmes ([personal profile] cluing) & OPEN
What: A catch-all.
When: May.
Where: Around and about Olympia.
Warning(s): Sherlock Holmes.

[i. SIMWE INSTITUTE]

[ With John gone, Sherlock is doing his best to ignore the absence. Not so long ago, he'd been prepared to spend the rest of his life with no further contact, but that had been then, and now it's just ... Well. It's hardly anything, isn't it? All the same, he's certainly spending more hours at the institute than he may have done before. Besides, putting together a mental lexicon of a city takes time, so he doesn't really notice or mind if he's there longer than anyone else.

He's surrounded by a variety of soil samples, each one carefully labelled as he goes along, jotting down properties in a notebook in shorthand. You're welcome to say hello. He may not say it back.
]

[ii. FLONA COVE]

[ Sherlock does not care about beaches. He does not care about bonfires or swimming or peace between the cities. What he does care about is the opportunity to explore new areas and add them to his mental encyclopedia. He's left behind his coat, but beyond that, he stands out from the vacation crowd. While everyone mills around to have fun, Sherlock is crouching to collect sand samples, or take photos of plantlife on his device. He's curious to get these samples back and see how they compare to what he's used to back home. ]

[iii. FERRET INHERITANCE]

[ Someone's thieving ferret has somehow fallen into the care of Sherlock. He'd never have paid the animal much mind, but it's latched on to him - or, rather, it's latched on to the home and simply won't leave. It's fine. It stays out of Sherlock's way so there are moments when he forgets entirely it's there. Until someone comes knocking about something that's gone missing and it's been the ferret before. If you don't speak up, Sherlock has no inclination to find the proper owner.

Sorry, not sorry.

[ He can ask, it's another matter entirely if she'll answer.

Though, this isn't her music — it's just some research she's picked up on the side, helping pass the time while she also helps the researchers. Nothing personal about translating some old languages into something readable, no reason for her defenses to come up over something so mundane.

So she pauses, but she turns the phone back. Takes a little longer than before to type up a proper response, but she's done quickly enough. ]

I've been translating older documents. The entire language is different, but only a few have notes on how to go from one to another. Like this one.

Not as exciting as soil samples.
