(OPEN) Hast du etwas Zeit für mich
Who: Reinhardt Wilhelm (
panzersoldat) & YOU
What: the start of the Baraquors, working out, mini-quests and much much more
When: all through May
Where: Olympia and Wyver both
Warning(s): None right now. Will warn if needed
1. Seeking a few good people
It's a familiar face by now. There's a very very large older man. He wonders down the street with the slightest bounce in his step. Under his arms there's a small handful of fliers. The request is simple.
Seeking: Strong men and willing to do something slightly foolish for a very good cause.
Please Contact: Reinhardt Wilhelm for more details
He carefully places a flier where it can be viewed before moving on down the street. He has quite a few to still put up here. Then he has to get into his mobile home and make his way to Olympia to do it all over again.
2. Training
After the kidnapping, after his revival and his still slow recovery, Reinhardt has taken to working even harder on himself. He never wants to be in that spot again, never wants to be stuck, unable to help. He never wants to feel that weak again. And that means doing even more training.
He doesn't have the sort of weights he would have up on the station, so when he's down planet side, Reinhardt makes due with what he has. It means a lot of lifting and pulling. At the moment, he's got a tree truck half his size. He's walking his way from the Fields of the Exalted to the other side of the city of Wyver and back. The truck rests on his shoulders and he does squats with every other step.
Reinhardt sort of wishes there was an easier, less obvious way of doing this, but for now, this is what he has. But at least it's really early in the morning, before the heat gets too terrible. Really early. He's pretty surprised when he notices that he's not alone anymore.
3. Hunting and gathering - mini-quest
In the jungles, Reinhardt is pushing though the undergrowth. His clothing is stained with dirt, especially the knees. The reason for this is pretty obvious pretty quickly. His face grows into a large smile. He drops down on all fours and pushes a bush aside to get at some small berries. Wyver calls them "scalebarries". And while there are gardens of them, Reinhardt is now living a mobile life. He can't have a garden. Besides, the wild ones are better.
There's just the one problem. Instead of putting them in the basket like he's supposed to, he's popping them into his mouth. He can't help it. They really are good. At this rate, he's never going to be able to have enough to bring to Olympia for that request.
4. Moving on - The guard at the gates
[ Just outside the Southern Outpost sits a strange mobile home. The banners are brilliant, the golden griffon on a green backdrop. Beside the strange camper that looks like an actual house stands a huge white stallion. The horse grazes on fresh spring grass. Setting in front of the camper, Reinhardt has his full armor out. His armor. His horse's armor. He has a few scant tools.
He's not as good as Brigitte is. As Torbjorn is. But he's been maintaining his gear for years. It looks like he's going to be settling down right here. This is neutral territory and as a so called "Knight of the People", Reinhardt has decided to guard it for now.
He will smile if anyone approaches and wave them over.] My friend! Did you come to help with making this place more livable as well?
5. Beaches are for still not swimming
Guess who still can't swim? This guy!
The old man sits at the shore, the surf licking at his feet. His tee-shirt is off, letting his
broad scarred back to get sun. He seems a bit sad as he watches the ocean. "You know, I miss it. The sun in Gibraltar. I had the best tan. But I can't tan like that here. Too many people." Because of course back then, Reinhardt had been very very serious about having zero tan lines.
6 - Wildcard
Anything you want. Anything.

Anything you want. Anything.

Oi, oi, hold it right there. It's not the first of those fliers I've seen. You must be -- [ Upon closer look, this man is far older than him, and though Rohan is rude and catty (and what some may call a 'huge bitch') on most days, he does actually believe that elders should be shown respect. He changes his tone, sounding a little more polite. ]
You must be Mr. Reinhardt, from the flier. You can't put up something like this without making people curious. What are you planning?
[ He might not be the target audience though, being a scrawny, willowy guy who doesn't look all that strong. ]
no subject
He freezes at the voice and turns. He turns and looks down and down some more at Rohan. Sorry, he's so tall. But his smile is warm and his face pleasant, even with the missing eye. His barrel chest puffs out a little, pleased that it's done it's job.]
Ja! I am. Reinhardt Wilhelm, at your service. And that's the point. I have to be sneaky about this. I don't want to be, but I can't let her know.
[ He leans down a little...Okay, a lot, just so that he can stage whisper at Rohan. ] Can you keep a secret? I'll tell you what I'm planning if you can.
no subject
'Her' ...? [ This is making him think 'surprise birthday party' and he's not sure he really wants to be part of that. Rohan Kishibe does not care about ... people's birthdays, sadly. ]
I am good at keeping secrets. Go on and tell me then. [ He's curious now and has to know. ]
no subject
Ja. Her. [ He looks around a little more, just in case and keeps his voice down. ] You see. There's this... little girl here. She's...still a teenager, I think. Anyway, she's a very very sweet girl and I know she's been having trouble lately. She even was talking about getting a boat and just sailing away. I'm worried about her and I would like to see her smile. I want that more than anything.
[ How to explain this... ] Back in her world, she was an idol. You know, those cute singing and dancing girls. She and her friends did it. She gave me a copy of their music. I thought it would be a nice surprise for her if I got a bunch of people together to sing and dance to her songs for her. In cute idol costumes of course. [ Because he's positive that nothing could make that sweet little girl laugh like a burly grandpa and is equally burly friends dressed in frilly clothing dancing to cute idol songs. ]
That's what I'm planning. [ He beams at the younger man, though he's already prepared to be told it's even more than just "foolish". ]
christ reinhardt is tall .......
I know what an idol is ... [ He's from 1999. Though, he really doesn't follow that scene because he's really not into cutesy stuff. ]
I don't mean to disrespect you, but you're going to have a hard time finding men willing to do that. Who's going to make a fool out of themselves for a girl they don't even know?
[ He has to be honest here. At least he's nowhere near as mean as he could be, as he probably would be if the man talking to him were someone of his age and not someone much older than him. There are many basic courtesies he's neglected to learn, but 'respecting your elders' seems to be a value he's somehow managed to pick up out of all of them. ]
2
A jump brings her down to a tree branch where she retrieves a bag that she packs her mistcloak away into and hops down to the ground, distracted by thoughts of sleep and the weight of fatigue beginning to push past her Allomancy and just generally not expecting much activity at an hour this early. And right into the path of the actual largest man she's ever seen, carrying a tree on his back.
She hops back in surprise, blinking at the sight of it. After all, Reinhardt here actually has more than two feet of height over her.
"Um... excuse me."
no subject
He stops dead in his tracks, halfway through a squat. Though sweat runs down his face, clinging to his beard, the older man seems to not be struggling all that much with his load. In fact, he shifts it a little to re-balance it before straightening his knees and turning a bright smile towards the young lady.
"Hallo!" His greeting is far too friendly and far too energetic for such an early hour. "I'm very sorry. I didn't see you there. I guess I was in my own little world." Reinhardt's single eye sweeps over her a moment. "I didn't hurt you, did I?" He hopes he hadn't run the poor girl over.
him big
So he can only smile, a little sadly this time, the fliers in his hand a little heavier than they were before. ]
None taken. I'm aware of that. But I was hoping that at least a few would decide that one little girl's laughter, one smile, would be more than enough reason for it. There's nothing wrong with wanting to help people and make them happy, even if you don't personally know them. It's for a good cause and I can only hope that I can get a few. If not, I'll just do it myself.
[ He gives the young man a momentary look. Not the body type he was going for initially, but beggers can't be choosy. It's not like there's a dozen Reinhardt sized people running around. ] Would you be interested? In doing the right thing and making a little girl smile.
3 - I lied
"If you keep eating them, there won't be enough for the Sanctuary." Venom says it calmly but with a touch of humor.
1
Cam claps the man on his... shoulder? Wherever he can reach.]
Seek no further! Camulus Buckland, at your service.
[He not-so-subtly flashes the golden badge of honor he received from the rescue of the hostages, which is pinned to the front of his leather vest. He's all about the good deeds, you see.]
What's this good cause?
no subject
And he sees that badge. Reinhardt has his own, a "reward" he supposes, for his part in the hostage situation. Not that he's going to easily explain what his part of it was. Instead, he knows that this man might indeed have the courage. ]
It's a very good cause. Making a little girl smile. There is no greater cause in the world than hearing the laughter of a young lady who is down. The question is, do you have the strength, the courage it takes to do what needs done in order to win that smile!
2- Training
That was absolutely impressive, The man was built like a superhero, so it wasn't too surprising that he had such impressive strength. He waited for him to rest before speaking up in German.
"Reinhardt! I see that you're hard at work this early in the morning."
no subject
Please, I have the strength and courage to make ten little girls smile. Make that twenty! [He waves an arm at the freshly hung flyer,] You might as well tear that thing down.
[Although his line of work has lead him in the more save-the-world direction of heroics, Cam got his start as a simple entertainer, and he always had a soft spot for kids.]
no subject
A single eye too. In fact, she can see the marks of battle all over him, and the thought crosses her mind that she's run across somebody incredibly dangerous... and somebody who bellows out a loud, friendly greeting and smiles brightly at her. She blinks, caught off guard a little by the cheer.
"No. No, not at all. I should have been watching where I was going" She tilts her head a little bit, eyeing the tree. "What are you doing?"
no subject
No thanks. I have a lot of things to do later. [ Not really. But he doesn't want to dance and sing for some little girl's sake. He would rather go exploring or even take a nap at home. ]
You're free to do what you want. Do you know how to dance and sing, however?
4, of course
[ Truthfully, Tony is still in the information gathering phase of his coming to terms with this place and its people, which includes the occasional travel. He remembers the Outpost from the evening he arrived, but hadn't paid it much thought since. With it being declared neutral ground, though, interest in it is renewed.
He really doesn't expect to find much of anything there, let alone Reinhardt camping out with a pile of armor around him. The glint of keen interest in his eye as he approaches is unmistakable. ]
You're your own mechanic, huh?
no subject
Herr Stark!
[ He puts the piece he's working on down, carefully and tries to dust off the ground next to him to make a suitable seat. It's not polite to ignore guests and he's also thought that Tony might want to sit.
Besides, he's always wanted to show Tony Stark his armor. The J08 might be a 30 year old relic from his time and in a very sad state from all the damage he's done to it over the years since he put it back on, but he's damn proud of it.]
Ja. I am. I have to be. None of the natives know anything about this sort of thing and they certainly don't know how to make the alloy. My regular mechanic is still sleeping, and this is the one thing I can't trust the Natha with. [ He'll live in Hal's Moving Castle that they gave him. Ride the horse that was a gift from them as well. But no way in hell is he letting the Overseers above touch the J08. ] but I was fixing this up long before she ever started adventuring with me. It's not the best, but it's all I can right now given the circomstances.
2
Going for a run is always a good way to clear the mind, and so that's what he's doing, darting through the trees to make things a little more interesting. He also isn't expecting anyone to be out at this time, so when he races around a large tree and ends up face to face with Reinhardt, he has to dig his boots into the dirt to skid to a stop.
Jack breathes hard, dragging a hand down his unmasked face as he shakes off the shock. Seeing Reinhardt carrying a tree trunk reminds him of when he found him in the simulation and they'd delivered some wood to that snowy village. It feels so long ago now.
"Already back to it, huh?"
Even death won't keep Reinhardt down for long.
no subject
Hey, no judgement here. I don't let anybody near my rig either.
[ He leans forward to eye a panel more closely, running a curious hand over the battle-scarred surface. It's definitely seen some mileage. It makes him wonder just what the hell Reinhardt uses it for. ]
Could use a new clear coat, sure, but this is no flimsy build. [ His eyes drift over to the rocket booster, one eyebrow going up. ] You making yourself into a battering ram in your spare time?
no subject
No. It's really not. It's precision German engineering. With a lot of Iron Clad guild as well. It's a little over 30 years old and still keeps doing what it needs to do. [ Sort of like the man who wore it.
He then laughs and actually nods.]
It's one of the best ways to stop something in it's tracks! Just fire up the rocket and next thing you know, whatever you mean to stop is against a wall. [ Or through a wall. It's pretty much like being hit with a semi-truck going 65. ] The hammer has rockets too. To help with momentum and for our Fire Strikes. You don't use yours like that? [ He'd love to see Tony's rig some day. ]
no subject
But he's soon grinning, shifting that massive trunk across his shoulders for better weight distribution. His legs only shake a bit from how much he's putting himself through already. He puffs his chest out and looks down at his old friend.
"Of course. Do you expect anything less from me?" He finally plants his trunk. The ground shakes as if he's smashed his hammer against it. "I wish I had proper weights down here, but even with Camperlot, I need to travel light." And this trunk would be used for wood later, to feed the boiler that makes the engine go. "Still making me weep with envy over your ridiculously fast mile?" It's the one thing he did envy the SEP for. Reinhardt wasn't built for speed. Not without his rocket boosters.
no subject
That's fine. Suit yourself. She would know if someone was being forced to do it against their will. That wouldn't make her happy at all.
[ Then a huge grin and the loudest of laughs. ] Of course I do!! I know all of Hasselhoff's greatest songs! And no one can waltz like I do! Idol singing and dancing can't be that much harder!
no subject
"Oh? This?" He does put the tree down then. It makes a startlingly loud thunk from just how heavy it is. He leans on it a little. "I'm doing my morning work out. A knight has to stay strong. So every morning, I do something to keep my strength up. And after, this tree will be going to a family that needs it for the firewood."
no subject
[ Because he has to be honest about this. A knight is honest, after all. ] Can you sing? And dance? Can you do it in cute frilly clothing?
[ And don't worry, because Reinhardt would be doing it too. Singing and dancing in cute frilly clothing for You to make her smile. ]
no subject
"I am indeed! I have been lazy and so now I train twice as hard! I didn't expect to see you in town. Visiting friends?"
no subject
Except for a few places, that's changed since he became a "hero". But that doesn't mean he's forgotten. So he doesn't eat all he needs. Thus he's getting his fill now with this. Plus, they are very very good.
"I know that but...you should really try one. They are so sweet and juicy." He actually holds one out for the younger man. "Are you sure they can't have a few less?"
no subject
At this, Cam gets serious. Deadly serious. He looks at Reinhardt,] I have lost my trousers on stage in front of the most powerful people in the Dawn Republic.
[It wasn't on purpose, but the point still stands.] ...Do I get to keep the cute frilly clothes?
no subject
"You have a bit of berry juice in your beard, my friend." He takes a small cloth out (he's been carrying a couple since a particular incident during the gala) and gently blots the stain. "I would prefer a full amount because they're needed in a test recipe."
no subject
Well, I certainly hope no one loses their pants in this. [ Because they won't be wearing pants, unless Cam is a boxer man like Reinhardt is. ]
And of course you will. I'm afraid that's all I can offer you as payment. Payment is the smile and the clothing and however much beer that you can drink during practice. You even get to pick your colors and help design them. And in return, you'll help me do a special performance for You. She's been very down lately and I'm sure seeing us would cheer her right up!
no subject
"If you need them, then I'll try harder for you. It's just a little difficult when I know how good they taste. But I do know where to find more. I've found quite a few patches when I was out here looking for good places to fish. Maybe those will be ready to pick." A pause. "Maybe you can take a cutting and try to plant it where you live. Start your own garden." He was considering that himself. Putting a pot of these berries on the porch of Camperlot.
no subject
They might throw him in plant jail because he violated some unspoken contract that protects them.
"For now, would you be so kind as to guide me to some of the other patches, please?" Maybe there he can try some for himself.
no subject
He straightens up to stand at full height and smile down at the young man. Out of habit, his hand goes to the other's shoulder to give it a pat. "All right. Watch your step. Sometimes the plants here like to try and trip you and drag you to eat. They don't try with me cause I'm too big. But you might be just the right size." He's teasing of course. He knows there are dangers out here, but in this area, man eating plants aren't one of them.
"This way." He'll head off into the deeper jungle, going to where he knows huge patches of the things sit next to bubbling streams with teaming fish. "I like to fish around here. They're delicious over an open fire."
no subject
[Reinhardt's a brave man, offering Cam all the beer he can drink after seeing him sloshed earlier. And he's already mentally getting to work thinking about what his performance outfit should look like. Green, definitely. He wonders if the tailor would be able to work in any glowing elements. Do they even have enchanted tailors here like in Talis'val?]
You? [Bypassing the obvious You/you confusion, assuming the name sounds different in spoken form. They've never met before, but he's seen her around on the network from time to time,] What's got the kid down? [Aside from the kidnappings and the riots and the... hm.]
no subject
"You don't have to tell me twice, Rein. I've crossed weapons with such a plant." And he recalls helping Yusei rescue a missing cart vendor from a rather ravenous one. He hasn't trusted any plants since. He follows quietly after that, taking in any natural land marks that can be used if he decides to return.
"I don't believe I've had these kinds of fish before. How do they taste?"
no subject
"I think they taste really good. They have a very soft taste, subtle and a little salty. Once they start spawning, I'm going to set a net down here and see if I can dry them out and keep them in my camper as snacks. If you want, we can catch a few for you. To take back."
He lifts a very large leaf out of the way and there's a huge patch of berries behind it. "And here we are."
no subject
Yeah. You. I think a lot of the bad stuff that happened recently happened to her too. [ Which pisses him right the hell off because you don't do that shit to a little girl (even if that little girl is an older teenager, by Reinhardt standards she's still a little girl). But since he can't make the people who did that pay, he wants to at least help her anyway he can. ] And I think maybe she's a little homesick.
She used to be in the singing and dancing group with a bunch of her friends. They were very good. She shared their music with me. And I thought that if I put together a music group and put on a show for her, she might be less sad and lonely. And less likely to go through with buying herself a boat and sailing away all alone.

Venom came from a world that was knocked back to using horse and carriage with the occasional airship. Road vehicles were banned unless one lived on Zepp. "What's a camper?"
He ducks under the leaf and immediately kneels down to pick the berries. Perfect. "Thank you, Rein. And as for the fish, sure I'll take a few for snacks."
no subject
[It seems like a dumb question, but he never really thought about it before. What lays beyond the see, off of the continents where Olympia and Wyver feud. Honestly, he can see where the appeal would be for someone sick of it all. Poor kid. The kidnappings were messed up enough as it was without kids getting involved. Back in his world, he recently came from another situation where a group of children were captured and saw some pretty terrible things, so he already has a pretty big soft spot for kids who have suffered,]
I'd be glad to help. My name's Cam Buckland, by the way [Wait, he already said that. Oh well, Cam loves saying his name unnecessarily.] Just let me know when and where and I'll be there.
no subject
"Come on, Reinhardt. What upstanding knight gives in to feelings of envy?" Jack asks. While his tone is dry, there's a slight curve to his scarred mouth, the only sign that he's joking. Reinhardt has known him long enough that he should be able to tell even without that hint, of course.
"I can slow down a little, if you want to come along." It's taken months to get to this point, but Jack's slowly accustomed himself to having Reinhardt around again. First a shared beer in his camper, now an offer to go running together. He's doing his best to make up for the fact that he wasn't there for Reinhardt at his darkest moment. Granted, he'd been dealing with his own kind of hell at that point, but the guilt's there all the same.
no subject
"Slow down? You insult me, mein freund. I will speed up! I will keep up with you, no matter what!" Just like before. Just like always. He'll always throw himself bodily into challenges like this. Things that are impossible, just to prove they weren't. He might not have always succeeded, but he was never ashamed because he had at least gotten close.
"So I will run with you. In return, you can lift with me. And we can practice. I haven't been doing arena fights because of my leg." Because Ana would surely kill him (she might for his working out like this), "So I need to keep my skills up. One day, I will beat you."
no subject
[ He gives a nod. ] I will let you know. And I will look forward to seeing what you design for your outfit, because I'm going to try to match you. Even just a little.
no subject
He tried hard not to eat any and put them in Venom's basket instead. "Wonderful!" As always, it comes out as 'vunderbar!'. "Then when we are done, I will go back and get my gear. We can fish. If you like them, I'll teach you how to make the snacks yourself."
no subject
Soon the basket has plenty of berries, and Venom does pluck one out so he can try it. It tastes like a sugary grape with an aftertaste that reminds him of flower honey. He can see himself working this into a syrup or jelly.
"I would like to learn either way. Just in case." He can make them for visitors to his home or long trips.
no subject
"They are good, aren't they. Now you see why it's so hard to stop eating them. I have a bit of a sweet tooth you see, and this just hits the spot." He pops a berry into his mouth and then goes to take the long process of standing back up.
"We'll go back to my camper then, so I can get a net. It's back the way we came. I'll also lend you a few jars to keep those berries in so they don't go bad on your way back to Olympia."
no subject
"Thank you, Rein. You're too kind." He's glad not all knights are uptight and rigid. Plus Venom finally gets to see this "camper" and find out what what makes it so dear to his friend.
no subject
Jack can't quite help laughing at the flippant remark about mutton chops, though. Leave it to Reinhardt to come up with something like that.
It seems unlikely that Reinhardt will be able to keep up with Jack unless he has his armor, which he clearly doesn't right now. He's going to try all the same, though, and Jack won't dissuade him. Running, lifting, sparring, all with worthy opponent? There's no reason to say no.
"You can keep telling yourself that, Reinhardt," Jack teases as he stretches his arms up and readies himself to run again. "Let's see if you can keep up." And then he takes off, running at his usual speed. Reinhardt would call him on it if he started to slow down, so he'll leave him to try and catch up.
