Who: Emma Swan (
sheriffing) & OTA
What: Beach day, chasing dragons, finding trouble, the usual.
When: Recently or right now
Where: Flona Cove + drinking + a closed starter
Warning(s): n/a
1. LADIES AND DRAGONS. (closed)
[ it's not a perfect plan, but at first, it's good enough. Emma storms into the cafe warning of a dragon on the loose with the fiery path to prove it, and Dany helps a pair of the creatures sneak out in the meantime. what the dragon savior isn't expecting is how quickly she gets pulled into the appearance of order, getting a description of the missing dragons from the cafe worker and taking her time to ensure their escape.
she plays her part and does what she can to delay any action, but that leaves her friend to manage the dragons on her own as they head towards the sanctuary in Wyver for their release. it's a while before she manages to catch up to them, rushing back on the path they've chosen, and when she's close enough to notice a spark nearby, she finds two dragons and two friends waiting.]
...I should have known the two of you would get along. [ Dany with the thousand titles and Wanda Maximoff. she'd once confused the former with the word "badass", but as far as she's concerned, it applies to both of them.]
2. THE BEACH IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA. (open)
[ at least she's managed to stay away from the fancy drinks. by the time Emma is off-duty and ready to join the celebration, the sun is already setting and the bonfire's already captured the attention of the crowd. she's rented a beach chair and brought her own, complication-free alcohol, and if anyone wants to join her, Emma might be willing to share.
or catch her walking along the water's edge, enjoying a walk a short distance away from the action. it's not that she minds the celebration, there's just so little time to steal a quiet moment around here.
if they aren't in danger then they're negotiating for peace or helping newly-awakened refugees to settle in. or worse, watching their friends slip back into stasis. there's not a lot of time to process what goes on around here, and for a moment, Emma is a little lost to the thought of all they've been through here.]
3. DRINKS DRINKS DRINKS. (open)
[ it's become something of a habit for her. once or twice a week, after she finishes up with the guard, Emma stops by a local bar to get a drink before she heads home. sometimes she meets up with friends, sometimes she talks to the locals, but whatever her plans, there's an empty seat beside her as she knocks back her drink.
feel free to claim it and a bit of conversation. after all, she doesn't mind the company. more often than not, she just doesn't really know how to ask for it, either.]
4. WILD CARD. (open)
[ want another beach option or something else entirely? feel free to drop it here or nudge me at
swanning and I'll post up a starter just for us!]

[ on the win, even if it still looks like it's taken a lot out of her. this place does that no matter what the situation. still, Emma understands the need to keep fighting, even if she hasn't joined the literal club.]
I'm with the Royal Guard in Olympia. Most of my stumbles are when I'm trying to stop people from going after each other.
no subject
A member of the Guard though. That brings a moment of instinctual tension before she brushes it away. She doesn't have any reason to fear the Guard here, they're not on the hunt for people like her here. At least as far as she knows they aren't.]
It must be difficult. [Another sip of her ale.] I've done enough stumbling for today. I'm just here for something to drink.

It depends on the day. For a while, the fights and the rioting was constant. Lately, people have been content with the thought of peace. [ for however long it lasts, but that's just a thought that earns another sip of her drink. she nods, acknowledging that the girl just wants to unwind for a while.] Same.
Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you. I guess I've gotten into the habit of drinking with friends. [ which is only helpful if she knows the person beside her.]

The thought of peace. It's a nice thought but she's not sure how long it will last. There's people moving against it.]
No, it's okay. [Still, she seems decent and maybe being on good terms with someone in the Guard could be helpful too. It wasn't something she could really consider back home but here.... She recalls some of her training on how to act in social settings and straightens her back a little, breathing out a sigh, and shifting into a somewhat more proper way. Not full noblewoman but less street urchin.] I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude. The last few weeks have just... been tiring.
[She turns to face Emma, offering a hand.]
I'm Valette.
[Olympia means "Valette." Don't be too obvious about traveling between the two countries.]

[ longer than that, it's been a weird month. she's better off not going around with the pin they'd given her for her heroism, because the constant reminders that she was taken only made things worse for a while there. her reputation is a good one, and even with that comes the knowledge that she doesn't quite know what to do with it. it's hard to feel like she's earned the label she has here; she hasn't done much savioring since Storybrooke.
she takes her hand to shake it, giving a small smile at the greeting. she knows what it's like to be tired here. everything about this place is tiring. it's too damn hard to keep up, sometimes she's not sure it's worth the effort when it comes to this-world politics.]
I'm Emma.

She didn't like it. Thinking of it like that, ending up here is almost a relief.
She returns the small with a polite nod, retracting her hand after a second or two before picking up her mug in both hands and taking a sip again.]
I only arrived recently. It's taking some time to get all my bearings.
no subject
[ at least on her count, with some days that felt longer than others. she remembers the feeling of trying to get her bearings, too - and then all the chaos that followed. eventually, the smart thing to do seemed to be to recognize that this is another world where they're constantly going to have to adjust to how its politics change everyone's situation - for better or for worse.]
The thing about living here is that, as soon as you feel like you're starting to settle, something else happens. Riots, kidnappings, strange political moves. Nothing stays the same long enough for you to get used to it.
[ and if it's not a direct result of the people in this world, sometimes it's about the people coming in and out of stasis.]
